The woman card? Really? REALLY?

She released Til It Happens To You not long after the ArtPop "era". Come on. And yes, she's the most prominent ARTIST right now due to her Oscar campaign - so it's not exactly surprising she's getting called out since she's everywhere in the press. I'm sure she wishes that this series would've aired in March. Let's not get it twisted here; it's not like she's resting quietly at home and this comes up to bother her...

Please explain this supposed woman card to me.

The original version completely removed from iTunes now that the deletion has processed I'm presuming cos it usually takes a while *.*

Tho I think it did hit top 10 on US iTunes before it got removed 😭

Looks like it's been removed now, which also means you can't buy Artpop (as it's marked as 'partial album')

Still available on Now 87 though(!!) watch that version fly up the chart (and the Xtina version is still on too).

Every cloud lmao

God exists etc.

The Christina version should hopefully stay on iTunes.

I can’t say I listen to the song regularly and I’m a Gaga STAN. But I did appreciate it today and realised it was an actual bop strong chorus and I enjoyed all versions of the song too, Xtina r Kelly and the solo version. The solo version performance on Alan Carr is an amazing performance and one of if not the best of the entire ARTPOP era based on vocals.

As far as ARTPOPs singles went I actually preferred Applause which I guess is a very unpopular opinion on here

Can’t she just release the studio edit of the solo version? I get the Xtina version is the only other released version available (and it’s probably gone now) but I’m not really a fan of 2014 oversinging Xtina

And I know I’m late on this but I just wanna say that I’m also not a fan of this whole “guilt by association” thing. I’m glad that Gaga spoke out against it and took the necessary actions, but if she’s still getting the vitriol that she’s getting and we’d want others to do the same, then... is anyone really unproblematic? We’ve all heard an R. Kelly song, remix, sample at least once in our life. Anytime someone badly wails “I believe I can fly” is still significant exposure. If we’re supposed to give the same energy using guilt by association, then unless you’re living in a rock, then you’re problematic and you should be getting that same amount of vitriol as well, and we’re all hypocrites. That’s why this mindset fails.

It wasn't tough decision for her I think, the song is not among her biggest hits and has always been a bit hmmm despite the empowering vibe. But she has so many more important songs of empowerment.

R Kelly is credited on every version of the song - he’s still receiving coin with the Christina and solo versions.

She’ll likely take them all down.

I agree, it was/is a bop and all but it's not in my ARTPOP top 5 oops.

  • 2 years later...

I don't know if y'all know that but DWUW was a Gaga solo song, they put R. Kelly's vocals on the track before she finished the album and gave it to the label to release.

The solo version of the song was randomly uploaded last year on Youtube (so I don't know why they haven't put the solo version of the song on the album yet, as R. Kelly has no credits in the solo version of the song and he will not earn any profit from that version)

Listen to the original version of DWUW below:

It definitely sounds a bir empty, like a demo. If only they'd given it to anpther rapper, such as Kendrix Lamar :(

The Christina version of this came on in a club I went to Saturday night. Literally started as I walked onto the dancefloor and it made me realise how much the song is an absolute banger. It's such a shame that it wasn't Christina penned from the start because I feel it would've continued to mature into one of her biggest streamers and certainly ARTPOP's biggest by miles. Or she needs to add Christina's onto the album on Spotify but I assume R. Kelly would still get royalties from that version too?

I'm fine with it not being included in the album - it would feel wrong if it suddenly appeared there after all these years.

It is sad that such a bop will be destined to be forgotten though. Cannot see her ever performing it live again.

Weirdly I just listened to the Xtina version an hour or so ago (rarely do as like you say it's not on the album on Spotify) and it's such a banger. Love to hear that version in a club or bar some day.

Perhaps the darkest moment of her career, I'm glad that video was never released and the R.Kelly version is no longer on digital versions. But I agree, if she had Xtina on the original, it would've been massive. The Voice performance alone gives me shivers.

She won't ever acknowledge it again unless in an interview about it, let alone perform it again!

Agree with all of this. Such a shame. I have the original 1st edition of the ARTPOP vinyl which I spent a lot of money getting my hands on. I have never listened to it and as time goes on, I don't think I ever will.

I'd love a reissued vinyl with the Xtina version in its place to be released!
