I had heard about the Sun confirming 'one of Britain's biggest bands' splitting today - I suppose the GH should have been a hint that it might be Keane. I was slightly worried it'd be Coldplay, thank God it wasn't. I do like Keane but they're not exactly a huge loss to the music business. Good for them to quit while they still have a 100% #1 hit rate with their regular releases :P
I like Keane! The Hopes And Fears album is brilliant even though the majority of their output after that isn't all that.
I've never bought a Keane album (borrowed my sister's Hopes and Fears) but I'll miss them. Will probably buy this.
I LOVED Keane almost as much as Coldplay up until about 2008 before my interest in them skydived, but I'm still sad about this. They rode the Coldplay/U2-esque sound without sounding too much like either.

WHAT?!?!??!??!??????????????

I think I'm gonna cry  What a mess!!! They can't split up, why?!?!?!???????

I feel they're pretty much only known these days for Somewhere Only We Know & Everybody's Changing, these two are wonderful overlooked gems:

Add "Bedshaped" to the overlooked gems list!

And unrelated, "Silenced By The Night (Alesso Remix)" is  If you're a fan of Keane and like dance music you should check it out.

Perfect remix

It's a shame really, always been a band I've been curious to listen to each time round.

They were a bit shit, weren't they? Their only song I properly remember is Spiralling.

They performed "Everybody's Changing" on Strictly results show tonight. Still love that song.

I still and won't get over this news for a while. Devastated.

I will miss them a lot. I'm a huge fan. Seeing them live this year was the icing on the cake for me. Now I'm grateful I was able to see them live at least once.

Great band, i bought all their albums and enjoyed them but i kind of expected the split when they announced the best of album, im expecting the same news from the Killers.

Are you trying to kill me or break my heart into a million pieces

They're not really splitting though are they? Hiatus. They will be back.

The Killers situation looks a little precarious though with the comments from Stoermer and Keuning but it was the same kind of thing after 'Day and Age' so I reckon they'll be fine too.

Suspected they would bust up about a year or two ago now. They aren't anywhere near as relevant like they were around 04-07.

Everybody’s Changing & Bedshaped were great and so was the 3rd single from Under the Iron sea (whatever it was called, forgotten) but aside from that this isn't a big loss so I'm not bothered.

Oh, I'd forgotten about This is the Last Time. For a genre renowned for whimpering, bedwetters that's a powerful vocal.

Gotta admit i've always had a slight soft spot for them, mainly cos i used to hear/really like most of their songs while growing up! They have had some TUNES tbf (Spiralling is such a lil gem <3)
