November 6, 201313 yr Has anyone tweeted Radio 1 about why Atlas is still on the playlist after TWO MONTHS?
November 6, 201313 yr Has anyone tweeted Radio 1 about why Atlas is still on the playlist after TWO MONTHS? I was just about to comment. It's baffling! The only reason I can think of is that they're waiting for Hunger Games to be released?
November 6, 201313 yr Eminem up from C-list to A-list! No other big surprises this week really, thought they'd playlist Biffy Clyro though, I guess 6 singles is a single too far. And yeah the Atlas situation is BEYOND RIDICULOUS now
November 6, 201313 yr What exactly is wrong with 'Atlas' continuing to be supported? I'd rather have that than half of the playlist being on there for months like on certain other (read: almost all other) stations.
November 6, 201313 yr Author They're maybe just waiting for the HG soundtrack to be released before dropping Atlas Anyway, great to see All About She getting a spot on the playlist, it could do quite well so i'm glad they haven't overlooked it! And of course RETROGRADE
November 6, 201313 yr I don't mind it! It's one of my favourite songs of the year - it's just that it's been on there far too long and other songs are missing the chance to get just as much airplay. I don't think it's because of The Hunger Games either as they've dropped Sia...
November 6, 201313 yr Baffled by Atlas... ? I haven't seen something jump from C to A list before?! Does that happen often? I hope TKO moves up at some point. I think it's much better than Suit and Tie and Take Back the Night. Edited November 6, 201313 yr by joepassmore
November 6, 201313 yr I think the BBC must have shares in The Hunger Games, as Radio 2 have played it as well. Considering even Coldplay fans havent bothered to buy it one must question why.....(and I LOVE Coldplay) Nice to see Imagine Dragons (a cert Radio 2 record) is on radio 1, considering the more Radio1 Radioactive was ignored for ages. Against the odds Martin Garrix is on, yay! Radio 2 is playing One Direction. Why?! (Surely they are exclusively target audience Radio 1). The 1975, I'm guessing the lead singer is very pretty as it's not really, shall we say, exactly musically challenging or cutting edge to be the only one of 3 "rock/indie" bands on the A list. Taylor Swift, pure Radio 2, really. As it turns out, it's also on their playlist along with Ellie, 1D, Dan Croll, Rudimental, Olly Murs. Guess those plummeting ratings have had a re-think on shoving the more MOR tracks onto Radio 2 and leaving them off Radio 1. About time. B-)
November 6, 201313 yr I like 'Daydreamer' but there are so many better songs on Paramore's self-titled album - 'Part II', 'Proof', 'Hate to See Your Heart Break' etc. The latter is beautiful. Shame to see 'Sing to the Moon' go, I've only started hearing it on Radio 1 last week and I'm really getting into it now!
November 6, 201313 yr How is Martin Garrix 'against the odds'?! :P Pretty blatantly obvious R1 were going to love 'Animals'. 'The Last Time' is basically a collaboration between 2 of R1's favourite artists (Snow Patrol obviously and they also have been devotedly supporting Taylor for a while now, not sure why they changed their minds on her after barely supporting her if at all earlier on) so it was also never going to not make it on.
November 6, 201313 yr I haven't seen something jump from C to A list before?! Does that happen often? It does happen occasionally. Infact it's the 5th time it's happened this year, the others being: Bingo Players feat. Far East Movement - Get Up (Rattle) Macklemore & Ryan Lewis feat. Wanz - Thrift Shop Avicii - Wake Me Up Jay-Z feat. Justin Timberlake - Holy Grail

JLS had songs on the Radio 2 playlist before as well, so I don't think it's that strange that they'd playlist One Direction. I'm sure the song is adult contemporary-friendly. You're right though, they've got a lot of AC stuff on the playlist atm. I think a lot of it is just down to the artists being very young, rather than what the music actually sounds like, since they playlist people like Birdy and Ed Sheeran too. Or in Rudimental's case, they had numerous Radio 1-friendly hits already, so they'll just get played regardless now.
November 6, 201313 yr Glad to see "Daydreaming" playlisted! Hopefully it'll help out the album a bit more. ^_^
November 6, 201313 yr I don't think its unusual for a song to be kept due to the release of a film coming soon? It normally helps the song I remember Nuclear Star Collision almost got back in the top 40 when the Twilight film was released. Coldplay are pretty R1 friendly anyway. It is a little bit strange - I'm a huge Coldplay fan and was over it weeks ago!

I'd rather have that than half of the playlist being on there for months like on certain other (read: almost all other) stations. I don't mind Atlas but I'd rather see Elastic Heart getting some good airplay as its an amazing track!! I'm thrilled to see Breach, Calvin and Afrojack all going up to b list, just hope this will be a good omen in terms of chart positions!! Edited November 6, 201313 yr by James1987
