November 6, 201313 yr Wasn't 'We Own It' kept on the playlist for a while until Fast & Furious 156 was in cinemas?
November 6, 201313 yr A List next week followed by official #1 in a few weeks time please. This please
November 6, 201313 yr 'daydreaming' one of my favourites on the album, hope it can manage top 40 at least. paramore have done rather well this era so far so hopefully it could follow suit.
November 6, 201313 yr What exactly is wrong with 'Atlas' continuing to be supported? I'd rather have that than half of the playlist being on there for months like on certain other (read: almost all other) stations. Just what I was about to say. It's not like every other station has supported it at all so it sounds quite fresh when I hear radio 1 play it. Same with something like Fallout Boy which radio 1 support a lot compared to its chart success! Lol at the predictable new entry for James Blake. Was this the first single from January they playlisted before?
November 6, 201313 yr I don't think its unusual for a song to be kept due to the release of a film coming soon? It normally helps the song I remember Nuclear Star Collision almost got back in the top 40 when the Twilight film was released. Coldplay are pretty R1 friendly anyway. It is a little bit strange - I'm a huge Coldplay fan and was over it weeks ago! The main reason it's weird is this: 121. Coldplay - Atlas And it's been doing terribly for forever. It's like Britney's 'Ooh La La' being a radio staple when absolutely nobody cared about the song.
November 6, 201313 yr I like 'Daydreamer' but there are so many better songs on Paramore's self-titled album - 'Part II', 'Proof', 'Hate to See Your Heart Break' etc. The latter is beautiful. Shame to see 'Sing to the Moon' go, I've only started hearing it on Radio 1 last week and I'm really getting into it now! Yea it only went into the blist last week, they should play it & Laura Mvula more she's really good this single sounds very different. Of course the opening single green garden was alisted but I haven't heard it since it left the chart!
November 6, 201313 yr I don't mind Atlas still being on because it is pretty fantastic but some airplay for Elastic Heart couldn't hurt either. I'm more surprised at how commercially unsuccessful it's been rather than Radio 1 continuing to play it. :( I can barely remember 'Daydreaming' but yay for more Paramore. Will have to listen to it again. 'Lies' put me off fully loving CHRVCHES for ages, it's just a little average for a song of its type. Not against their success THAT much but The Mother We Share to remain their highest peaker for now please.

I know that, its very odd but I think it may be something to do with the BBC promoting the film rather than the song. The Hunger Games is quite a big release and Coldplay are an act R1 can get behind, so I don't think its QUITE the same thing as what you say. Edited November 6, 201313 yr by Chez Wombat
November 7, 201312 yr How is Martin Garrix 'against the odds'?! :P Pretty blatantly obvious R1 were going to love 'Animals'. 'The Last Time' is basically a collaboration between 2 of R1's favourite artists (Snow Patrol obviously and they also have been devotedly supporting Taylor for a while now, not sure why they changed their minds on her after barely supporting her if at all earlier on) so it was also never going to not make it on. I had my doubts about Animals because its not British and R1 (by their own admission) playlist as much as 75% British acts (even if there's great foreign tracks and ordinary British ones to pick from they tend to go for the UK). Happy to be wrong! B-) Snow Patrol I would imagine are now R2 territory (just as Keane now are) and Taylor was Radio 2 before she was Radio 1, the record (had it been by an older act) would have stood no chance of getting on R1 in a million years. It's purely kids now love Taylor as a pop star rather than country star..
November 7, 201312 yr Snow Patrols last campaign was playlisted by radio 1 but your right the mid noughties bands are on their last legs at radio 1 now esp since SP are one of those bands that would fit perfectly at radio 2!
November 7, 201312 yr . The 1975, I'm guessing the lead singer is very pretty as it's not really, shall we say, exactly musically challenging or cutting edge to be the only one of 3 "rock/indie" bands on the A list. From today's newspaper: http://metrouk2.files.wordpress.com/2013/11/ad_119796316-e1383750087625.jpg So, no idea why they get playlisted. Snow Patrol have been in R2 territory for quite a while now (somebody picked them on Steve Wright's Non-Stop Oldies today, in fact) and the last album didn't do that well so it's probably about time R1 gave up on them.
November 7, 201312 yr It's not like The 1975 have had a #1 album and one of the highest-selling 'indie' singles of the last few years or anything.
November 7, 201312 yr Yup, that's the obvious conclusion to come to. Jesus Christ at this thread this week.
November 7, 201312 yr Yup, that's the obvious conclusion to come to. Jesus Christ at this thread this week. I was actually joking. :P I like The 1975.
November 7, 201312 yr I was actually joking. :P I like The 1975. Oh sorry. Jokes don't come across well on the Internet etc. (My post still stands for most of the other discussion in here :P)
November 7, 201312 yr Great stuff for Breach, Calvin/Alesso, James Blake, and All About She this week. :D
