This is going to be incredibly close, with Bastille getting closer on iTunes and they and Gary having performances. I'm really hoping Bastille get the number 1 but like all three songs so I won't be annoyed whatever happens :D

They are lower than Lily (when combined) on iTunes. Alan Carr may help but I think once the John Lewis ad has been wheeled out a couple of times the effect will be the same.

Please tell me this is some kind of joke? 155k was one of the highest opening weeks of the year, and an improvement of 20k or so from their first album which was released when sales were higher.

 

 

Its no joke my post wasnt aimed at a diss at 1D it was making the point that an album released in the last week of november pre 2010 by one of the biggest acts in the world after 2 decent sized well airplayed hits would have broke 200k easily enough. It was the same as Robbies album after Candys release (his biggest hit since 2002) he only did 94k. Poor enough figures 'for the time year' and the sstatus of the artist.

 

THe point about Adele/Emelis Sande albums being more appealing is true though!

Blimey that's a very tight top 3, it could go either way. Sunday chart will be far interesting, the final outcome could be entirely different, we just have to wait and see. Gary Barlow performing on Jonathan Ross tomorrow night, and Robbie Williams with Olly Murs performing on Graham Norton tonight

Sooo close at the top of the singles Bastille could do it with the performance tonight but Lily has the XF ad breaks which push her well ahead usually. Garys performance of Wossy could be too late for the singles but will push the album well.

 

Great sales for Robbie, should do 130k - saturday sales will be bigger than normal from now on as the xmas shoppers are about. Great for the NOW album too will easily break a million hopefully by the end of the year!!

Burn, Wake Me Up, The Fox and Talk Dirty are featured on the NOW86 compilation album, hence their rapid climb back up the chart.

 

Ylvis' climb is more down to their CIN performance :P

 

I've been thinking all this week that Lily would end up #1 very comfortably but seeing Bastille so close to her on iTunes and only 200 copies to overturn, it looks like it could go down to the wire between them after all... glad they both look set to beat Gary though.

 

Very surprised at how well 'Swings Both Ways' has done, nearly beaten the first week sales of 'Take The Crown' already when that was off the back of a massive #1 single and the single this time needed a bit of a promo blitz to even go top 10. I guess it's selling more off the hype of being a follow-up to 'Swing When You're Winning' than on its own merits.

I want both Lily and Bastille at number 1 so either way it will be a result for me!

I think it probably deserves to drop straight out of the top 20 let alone the top 5.

 

I still haven't heard the Bastille medley yet.

I got a funny feeling Bastille will nip this in the end, and could spend another week with their repackaged album released next Monday, unless Calvin Harris gets there, to be honest I haven't heard much buzz around Calvin's new single, I'm not really expecting it to go to #1, I believe it when it happens. Or Lily Allen but I can't see it getting there after this week just not sure if the track can last that long in the top 3.

I hope lily wins this battle now because she is and will in the coming weeks more consistent. If Calvin/Breach doesnt put up a fight next week Somewhere only we Know could get 3 weeks at the top as its sales will be maintained and airplay is only beginning to peak for her because she was OA/OS whereas Bastille have been held back so long it will 'probabaly' decrease dramatically week on week like SQ & Martin Garrix have!

I love Bastille and I do not like Lily Allen, but I don't want the former getting there for the first time with a cover song when they have far better original material, so I think I'd rather Lily got it if only for that (plus she's had her own number 1s before anyway).

 

I reckon the weekend exposure for Lily might just about swing it in her favour, this should be one of the closest battles in quite some time!

I've not heard much hype for 'Under Control' either. Mind you, I think it's more of an Alesso single as it's reportedly appearing on his album which could be why. 'Under Control' could "do a 'Reload'" which I thought would be big due to two of the artists responsible for 'Don't You Worry Child' were credited.

Gutted for Martin Garrix, I had hoped Animals would have stayed top 5 over Eminem...

"It was released when sales were higher" doesn't really work when there's only one year between albums :lol:

I can't believe Bastille are doing so well. The song is terrible - their entire album is better than it. I don't understand the love for it.
