Biography

Seemingly appearing from nowhere in 2012 with their U.K. number one single Feel the Love, London based electronic outfit Rudimental had originally come together a few years earlier as the production name of duo Piers Agget and Kesi Dryden. Agget's DJing brought him into contact with DJ Locksmith, who joined the pair, followed later by a chance meeting with Amir Amor at a studio in Hoxton, London. Rudimental's first release, the dancehall-inspired Deep in the Valley, appeared on garage, grime, and dubstep label Black Butter and was quickly followed by Speeding and Spoons. Picked up by Universal Records off the back of their first few singles, 2012 saw the release of the drum'n'bass roller Feel the Love. Championed by Zane Lowe on BBC Radio 1, the single reached the top of the U.K. charts the same weekend as the four-piece played on their home turf at the Radio 1 2012 Hackney Weekender. In 2013 Rudimental's debut album Home arrived. Working with some of the U.K.'s finest talent including the voice of 2012, Emeli Sandé, the album's mix of dubstep, R&B, house, and drum'n'bass received positive reviews and went straight into the number one spot on the U.K. album chart. - iTunes

Hopefully with the lack of big new songs out this week, Free can climb up abit. It's too good to miss out on a Top 20 place.

'Free' keeps growing on me a tiny amount per listen. 'Right Here','Waiting All Night', 'Not Giving In' and 'Feel The Love' are all so much better though.

Free isn't bad, better than I thought it was after my first listen, but Right Here is Rudimental's best single IMO (unpopular opinion).

Still can't get into this. :(

Surprised that they've censored "b**ch" and "t*ts". I was under the impression that those two words were okay to say on UK radio according to Ofcom.

 

They can't be said on daytime television either, I think (outside of digital TV)?

Biography

R&B vocalist Jason Derülo launched his career while still in his teens, first as a songwriter for other artists and later as a solo performer. Born to Haitian parents in Miramar, Florida, Derülo started singing at an early age. He attended performing arts schools in Florida and took some early stabs at music composition, writing his first song at the age of eight. His writing skills began attracting attention, and by his teenage years, Derülo had begun scribing tracks for artists like Lil Wayne, Pitbull, and Pleasure P. He also wrote "Bossy" for Birdman, a New Orleans-based rapper, and made a guest appearance on the song, which highlighted his ability as a vocalist.

 

After signing to a subsidiary of Warner Bros., Derülo began making the transition from behind-the-scenes songwriter to mainstream performer. His first hit arrived during the summer of 2009, when he wrapped a sample of Imogen Heap's "Hide and Seek" (a song made popular by its appearance in the second season finale of The O.C., as well as the Saturday Night Live sketch Dear Sister) around a sleek modern soul beat. Titled "Whatcha Say," the song topped the Billboard charts and cracked the Top Ten in multiple foreign countries, including Canada, Australia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the U.K. A second single, "In My Head," peaked at number five in America, and Derülo's full-length debut album arrived in early 2010. Trumpets is TERRBILE.

This is by far Jason Derulo's worst song imo! It's irritating! :(

Not really that keen on 'Trumpets'. Not as good as 'Talk Dirty' or 'The Other Side' :(

I am UNSURE what to think about 'Trumpets'. The lyrics are terrible and his falsetto is quite bad but it is 'interesting' and kind of makes me want to hear it more? It's good that it's at least kind of different.

I quite like this Derulo song, although I prefer The Other Side and Talk Dirty for now.

This is quite disappointing on first listen

'Breathing' is probably my favourite track from Jason. On another note, Jordin Sparks can't come back to the chart soon enough. 'Battlefield', 'S.O.S. (Let The Music Play)' and 'No Air' are all flawless.
