Judging on kworb with no doubt one direction sold more during this week than lily. Even if she has an advantage because of her CD sales ( which is imho doubful considering that 1d also has a physicals) how many copies of them she could sell 2k? 3k?

 

Lily was ahead of 1D yesterday by almost 4k. Around 2k of Lily's sales were achieved physically. Therefore even if she didn't have a CD out, she'd still be ahead of 1D by 2k.

Now 1D has 10+ % lead over Lily... maybe it will be enough for the weekend? She can't be more than 800-1000 copies ahead... they are so much deserving this than her again with a cover... Take it!

It's been climbing on iTunes quite a lot over the last few days, currently at #74.

It should sneak into the Top 100 for Sunday, but I wish it was doing better than that!

If Lily sold 2 k physical, and 1d sold few hundreds and have even small advantage on itunes i still don't see how she can be ,,thousands'' ahead of them.

Don't forget that SOWE is also available in John Lewis stores so it has quite wide spread availability beyond what a physical normally has and people want something physical to wrap present wise. It wouldn't surprise me if it had sold a good 5-6 k already this week by this source.

Full to bursting with copies in my local HMV and supermarket too. This week wasn't a good week for her to release in terms of chart success, early December releases should be saved only for Xmas albums and the absolutely highest profile acts, otherwise they just get completely lost in the rush. She could have got a Femme Fatale sized low top ten in the summer.

 

There isn't really a big rush this year though, apart from a few albums. That's what's embarrassing.

I suppose just the number of releases is a problem though, even if some of them are underperforming.

I think Britney should have released her album a couple of weeks ago when 'Work Bitch' was in the charts and she did a fair bit of TV and Radio, or waited for a second single to be pushed.

There has been a lot of new releases the past 3 months including some great ones but the problem was none of them could sustain good sales beyond the 1st week, it's the problem with the digital music era probably....
