I just went back and watched an episode of TCTS and rekindled my love for Derek. Amazing character. The scene with Bonnie Langford !

Really looking forward to this! Would have preferred a new series of the full show though, so many amazing characters.

Derek > Nan imo.

'Come on move along love ain't you gotta go and have a big fat gypsy wedding'

'I ain't a gypsy'

'Well two outta three ain't bad'

 Hysterical, just as funny as I remembered!

I love how there were homages to old sketches like "Would you like a mint?!" and "Whos that?! .... GOD KNOWS"

It was a bit dry at places, and I can't imagine how a full series of it won't get boring very quickly, but I look forward to seeing if she can actually pull it off.

What I did like however were the (whether it was intentional or not) homages to some of the sketches in the Catherine Tate Show - referring to a translator = the translator sketch. Saying "Come on Alice, we're off!" = "Come on Leonard, we're off!" from the Derek sketches, etc. Those were nice little touches!

Apparently had loads of complaints about it being racist ... I did find some of that kind of uncomfortable / unneeded at points. It could of done without it.

The return of Catherine Tate's Nan drew 4.30m/18.4% to BBC1. It was narrowly beaten by the new series of Take Me Out though (4.35m/18.6%).

A bit less than I was expecting, tbh. I reckon the BBC will have been looking for 5m+ for it to be given a full series.

The 'ooh init hot' made me laugh as that's typical Nan but I think the new Indian neighbour bit wasn't needed at all...

I think maybe rather than a full Nan series, maybe just a series of one-offs featuring memorable characters such as Bernie, the posh mother or Derek would be good. I did really enjoy this pilot as I said, but I'm not sure if it'll get the full series now :(

So good! :D Hopefully it will be back for a full series soon!

Bit un-PC yes, but we need some of that and it was funny.

wish i'd seen this.

i did actually love the show, i got the entire series on dvd

bet it was awsome

Might still be on BBC iPlayer!

good thinking!

you know i always forget about the I player?

i shouldn't because i used to catch up on ITV player with emmerdale when my tv was having signal troubles so i couldn't watch it

Two further half-hour specials will be broadcast in 2016.

When I saw the headline, I thought there might have been a full series but at least we're getting something!

I was so excited it'd be a full series too  Like I said a few posts up though, I'm not sure a full series would work necessarily, and I think one-off specials for other characters as part of a series would be great.

One for the posh people please
