August 14, 20168 yr An instrumentals spin-off sounds really exciting. I'll probably also try to enter the country one, I'm a bit more picky when it comes to that genre (as I am with several genres I guess) but I'm sure I can find something :D For ages I really wished for another Halloween spin-off this year because I had a potential for that (and now probably have several others if I dig deep into my potentials playlist) and I loved the last one but I'm not as passionate about the idea now so wouldn't mind if it didn't happen this year (although I'm still kinda yearning to send that potential, I just don't really want to send it to the regular contest :kink:)
August 15, 20168 yr I would be SO here for an instrumental spinoff! :heart: Considering half of the stuff I send to the contest these days are instrumentals! Country wouldn't really be my thing, but I am always up for a challenge so if the demand is there then I will give it a go. Would probably have to trawl through a LOT but I might be able to find something. Maybe. (cats vs dogs tho)
August 15, 20168 yr Well this is an idea that just has come to my head so bear with me, but seeing as we would have a new spin-off in September and then a month-gap and then another in November. How about something along the lines of this: September - Instrumentals October - Country (or another niche that is completely opposite to the fans of instrumentals) December - Christmas 3.0 (or something else if we've exhausted all the Christmas songs) So instead of having a month gap, we would have two consecutive spin-offs but, as they are niches, people would probably only have a desire to enter one of them anyway (but can obviously enter both if they wish). Yet, with them happening so close together, people won't feel left out like they would if we followed the normal schedule and had a niche one in September (therefore if they didn't participate in September's niche, there would have been a big gap from July to November for non-instrumental fans). Does that make sense? Maybe, maybe not :P That sounds good to me! I'm unsure whether I'd enter a country spinoff. On the one hand, I will really struggle to find a song I actually want to send and then probably wouldn't like any of the other songs. But on the other hand... I can't have a gap in my participation history again!!! :kink: I do like the idea of a country spinoff though, it's a well established enough niche in the main contest so why not?
August 15, 20168 yr Well this sounds like a good plan, that is September and October sorted! If you want to host then do declare your interest - I think my original list of wannabe first-time hosts has now been exhausted. I'm still giving preference to people who have not hosted a main contest or a spin-off before but if that rules everyone interested out then we'll go back and give the option to whoever suggested these spin-offs. But if we don't need to do that, then the people who suggested the spin-off can be on the veto panel as we did with Dan last contest if they so wish (so whoever suggested instrumentals many years ago please own up).
August 15, 20168 yr I would LOVE to do the country one as I am I think one of the biggest country fans on the site and I've not hosted a spin-off and if any spin-off is perfect for me then it's country!

August 16, 20168 yr ny2 so had Cameron (well he'd hosted one and also a previous spinoff. xx) I had hosted one spin off and one main contest previously, hardly me clogging up hosting rights.
August 16, 20168 yr Tbh just keep me on the list permanently for hosting spin offs as I'm not going to be hosting a main contest any time soon :lol: ik I've literally just hosted with Lotti though but Liam would be the perfect country host, Grant and Sam too as ik they are sluts for a good bit of country music :kink: If we do the instrumentals one, can we PLEASE put a 5/6 minute limit on the song length (I'm looking at you Ethan)? Oh also, just a little suggestion but what if the niche contests were 2 in 1 so you could send either country or an instrumental to the one contest? I liked how you could send either a cover or sample to Reinvention. Maybe have the country contest paired with rock as that would probs work better and have instrumentals paired with another 'not as popular' genre like rap or something, or maybe even the go green idea? :o it would attract more participants and make things a little more interesting Edited August 16, 20168 yr by Lindsey ♌
