I haven't even heard of Flute, but if the circumstances such as chart placings, entries of personal charts and multiple confirmations give it enough veto points, it should be veto'd. Simple as, that's why the framework exists and the mods put a hell of a lot of time into it for that reason...

Why? I may be the only one saying it, but I know I'm not the only one thinking it.

:manson:

We have worked tirelessly to bring in the second veto framework and the entire veto system works wonderfully since the first one was introduced. The framework is here to stay, what it contains is debatable but the system will stay.

I've heard 'Flute' off a few people on here and seen it around a fair bit. I do think it was veto worthy (the timing of it is perhaps the only thing under contention, but it has always been said that vetoes can happen right up to the semis being posted).

It's basically Animals but with added FLUTE so i can see why it was vetoed even without it scoring all the points that it did.

I can't even IMAGINE what that would sound like.

I think Flute's veto was right as it did tick a few boxes

the fact that Wall stole it from me may or may not play a part in this

I'm not bothered about the veto! It's the timing that's a bit iffy.

Lets move on and allow totto to enter :cheer:

There's nothing wrong with the timing. It was done well before confirmation close. We discussed it, did further research, voted, found we were tied and then invited the GM/Admins to break the tie. That takes time!

Agree with Wall

I need some more Dutchmen in here and Toto is known from Popjustice

The best thing about Harve's signature is that there's hidden swastikas in it when it's moving.

Was thinking the exact same thing :D

Not sure if I think 2 hours is well before confirmation close tbh. BUT THAT MIGHT ONLY JUST BE ME.

Just entered. I'm new here, I also participate on the Popjustice versions.

I hope I'll get through, don't exactly know what the differences are.

Welcome and I'm assuming you know who I am then? ^_^ The same rules apply here as do Popjustice's version so there shouldn't be any confusion except you must create a country and compete as it isnstead!

TOTTO

A serial giver of points to me.

My entry Cashmere Cat - With Me got vetoed. I hope my new entry goes through, if not I'm pretty sure my back-up will. My back-up is very diffrent from what I usally have sent the last year.

Stop snatching members from me.

I haven't even heard of Flute

All that does is prove my point, TBH.

I'm not slagging the veto system off at all, because some of the time it does deter complete and utter cheapness from being entered, but most of the time it prevents good and valid entries from being entered that some people probably won't have heard of otherwise just because they've charted somewhere at the other side of the world or they've had exposure on another website.

Recycling, Pitchfork and High media exposure. 3+7+12=22=Automatic veto

Yeah I don't think a song with 40,000 views on Youtube and its first 7 pages of Google results being entirely of internet blogs rather than Radio 1/magazines/whatever should be getting 12 veto points.

(but I'm kinda glad it got vetoed cuz I'm sure it would've provided Erik with another DNQ </3)

And yet most people, (not discounting Liam at all but...) when Flute was brought up in the thread knew exactly what it was and immediately had an opinion to pass upon it. That shows to me that it clearly was well known among the participant base, would have had an unfair headstart on many other tracks, and should have been vetoed. And I'm one of the mods who originally voted for it to stay.

I would've opted to veto Flute but Cashmere Cat getting an automatic veto is weird. Or at least whoever decided it's got 'high media exposure'.
