What a terminally dull trio of tracks. Thank god Gary Barlow is no longer going to be on The X Factor however.

Biography

Employing a stylish mix of arty, confessional bedroom pop and club-ready electro-rock that has drawn comparisons to the likes of Grimes, Lana Del Rey, and Sky Ferreira, New Zealand singer/songwriter Ella Yelich-O'Connor, who goes by the stage name Lorde, became an Internet sensation at the age of 16 with the video for her debut single, "Royals," which garnered over 750,000 hits on YouTube. Her 2013 debut EP, The Love Club, hit the number one spot on both the New Zealand and Australian charts. The New Zealander continued her meteoric rise to fame in 2013 with a growing fan base and began sessions for her debut album, Pure Heroine, with producer Joel Little. - iTunes

This drop for Skyscraper. X Factor winning singles can be fantastic, I loved That's My Goal, A Moment Like This, Hallelujah, The Climb, and even When You Believe ( ) but this isn't anywhere near as good as Demi's original and lacks so much emotion.

Totally agree with you on that one. Are we the only people who like 'When You Believe'?

Oops at this dropping out of the top 20 again after it was up one on the Friday mids - then again there are a lot of ~hawt climbers~ in the top 20 so I guess it's not too surprising.

I can't believe that in Lorde's 17 year long career of being alive that this is her first UK #1! :o :D (I'll stop now)
12 weeks is pretty good for this, I can't believe I thought You're Nobody 'Til Somebody Loves You would beat this to #1, completely wrong there!

Oh even though I wasn't a fan of Leon, I really liked his rendition of When You Believe. :P

(36) Idina Menzel-Let It Go

Good tune from her, great singer since she broke through as the witch from the Broadway play "Wicked" 10 years ago. Also the album recently not Beyoncé off the #1 spot on the US album chart this week.

1 Story Of My Life

2 Little Things

Biography

Following the success of JLS and the Wanted, X-Factor contestants One Direction were the next group of heartthrobs to help revive the previously dying concept of the boy band. Niall Horan from Mullingar, Ireland; Zayn Malik from Bradford; Harry Styles from Cheshire; Louis Tomlinson from Doncaster, and Liam Payne from Wolverhampton (the latter had previously reached the judge's house stages of The X-Factor as a 14-year-old back in 2008) originally entered the 2010 seventh series of the talent show as individuals, but following a suggestion from guest judge Nicole Scherzinger, they were grouped together to become One Direction. Mentored by Simon Cowell, they soon became one of the favorites to win the show, thanks to renditions of Kelly Clarkson's "My Life Would Suck Without You," Elton John's "Something About the Way You Look Tonight," and Bonnie Tyler's "Total Eclipse of the Heart." However, despite receiving a standing ovation for their duet with Robbie Williams ("She's the One") in the live final, they eventually finished third behind Rebecca Ferguson and winner Matt Cardle. Spotting the potential of five Justin Bieber-esque teen pinups, Cowell signed them to his Syco label in a £2million deal, and after performing on the X-Factor tour, the quintet began work on their debut album with Savan Kotecha (Britney Spears, Enrique Iglesias). Following a sponsorship deal with Nintendo DS and a book, Forever Young, named after their cover of the Alphaville classic which was intended to be their winner's song, they released their first single, "What Makes You Beautiful," in late 2011. The full-length album, Up All Night, followed soon after. In 2012, One Direction became the first British band to debut on top of the Billboard 200 list when Up All Night sold over 176, 000 copies during its first week of release in America. In late 2012, One Direction released its sophomore album, Take Me Home. Highlighting more of the band's melodic pop, Take Me Home featured songs and production via Sweden's Carl Falk, Rami Yacoub, and Savan Kotecha, who worked on Up All Night, as well as contributions from singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran. In August of 2012, the band released the single "Live While We're Young" online. - iTunes
