CD1 is pretty awesome, wouldn't really skip anything!

I can't believe that One Direction, P!nk, Gabrielle Aplin & Disclosure all have two songs each! What's that about?!

I guess those acts have all been rapidly churning out the hits recently (Kiss You even had to be skipped completely unless it very belatedly turns up on Now 85!). Of the major omissions I guess Thrift Shop, Stay, When I Was Your Man, Army Of Two, Mirrors and Harlem Shake will all turn up on Now 85 unless there are licensing issues for one or two of them. Skyfall was almost certainly unobtainable, Suit & Tie and My Life will probably never appear, the former because Mirrors is bigger and the latter because Eminem has never featured much on the Now's. I seem to recall Without Me and the Akon duet appearing and that's it!? It's a nice enough tracklist overall, I'm very pleased with the inclusions of Just Give Me A Reason, What About Us and Boomerang (to keep it fresh, and loving the little girl group trio of songs in a row!), A Thousand Years (lol at the piano ballad segment at the end) and Everywhere! Shame Lawson's song wasn't Learn To Love Again though.
I just realised how strong these bunch of songs are, especially if songs like Change Your Life, Stay & Army Of Two missed out!

One Direction's terrible cover as track 1? :puke: Fleetwood Mac included?

Correct me if I am wrong, but all of the 2012 number one singles have been included on a Now! album (it's only happened once before I think).

2007 is the only other year that's happened, I think B-) That though had a tiny amount of #1s so for 2012 to do it is much more impressive.

Yeah 'Thrift Shop' might do a 'Hot Right Now'/'Starships' - two huge hits that bizarrely missed Now 81 but were belatedly included in Now 82 last year. Ditto Lady Gaga in 2011, 'Born This Way' and 'The Edge of Glory' both appearing on the Now one album later than you'd expect.

It's not a hugely exciting tracklist to me but then there hasn't been much over the last few months I've really loved. 'Drinking From The Bottle' stands out for me along with both Disclosure tracks, all providing me with future late '12/early '13 memories

Gabrielle joining the very elite group of artists who have had 2 of their songs on the same NOW album!! And both of the songs are completely hers, she isn't just featuring on another making her join an even more elite group!! :D

EDIT: Reading Scherz's post above, maybe it wasn't such a rare occurrence on this NOW album, but nevertheless well done Gabrielle! :cheer:

Edited by Ryan.

I'm disappointed Rihanna Stay and Justin Timerlake Mirrors are not included but apart from that its quite a good package and worth getting.

Well done to her, too. She deserves it a lot.

Re; 'White Noise' will this be the radio (or video edit if you like) or the full 6 minute version? I noticed 'Greyhound' had its radio edit on the Now album which was never released seperately in its own right.

Why should Now get exclusive treatment? :P

One Directon, Gabrielle Aplin, Pink and Disclosure with two tracks in it. Was there a NOW album with more double-takes in it?

The radio edit of Alice Deejay's Better Off Alone famously didn't appear on the CD single (amazed that it got to #2 with only a handful of 6+ minute mixes on the single) but appeared on Now 43 and was the sole reason I rushed out to buy that album on day one :D A different mix entitled 'UK short cut' which appeared on the cassette single later appeared on Hits 2000! I love when these long songs get radio edits, I still don't think I have one of Million Voices by Otto Knows because that never appeared on a Now compilation. Some of the foreign compilations that I buy are good for things like that.

The 'UK Short Cut' of Better Off Alone also appears on the CD single of follow-up 'Back In My Life', which may explain why it sold an astonishing 425k - a lot for a song that definitely isn't as well-remembered as BOA is, as good as both it and the rest of the Who Needs Guitars Anyway album are :D

Now 43 though bizarrely had the longer edits of Fatboy Slim's 'Right Here Right Now' and 'Hey Boy Hey Girl' by the Chemical Brothers - the radio edits for those can be tracked down on Fatboy Slim's 'Why Try Harder' Greatest Hits and the Brit Awards 2000 comp. Finding radio edits for lots of late 90s-onward dance tracks can be next to impossible, all the versions around on both iTunes and Youtube are the full length mixes!

I adore Back In My Life, true not as much as Better Off Alone but they're #5 and #10 in my all time favourites chart  But yeah I expect a few people picked it up for the radio edit of Better Off Alone.
'Back In My Life'! Alice Deejay were brilliant. Never got round to listening to their (?) album though! 'Better Off Alone' is one of my all time favourites. I'd like to think BIML is too actually, but I never actually keep track of my all time favourite songs, so I never get round to compiling it so I don't know

ITV cues up Now That's What I Call Music doc

ITV has commissioned Reef Television to produce a one-off documentary about music compilation series Now That’s What I Call Music.

The broadcaster will air The Story of Now (working title) in the summer on its main channel. It will tell the story of how the compilation grew from humble beginnings to sell more than 100m records in the UK.

Reef has negotiated exclusive access to the archive and the artists that have appeared on the compilation from record label EMI.

The doc was ordered by ITV’s commissioning editor for comedy entertainment Claire Zolkwer.

It is the first commission for Reef’s new head of specialist factual Ben Weston, who joined the indie at the end of last year. It will be exec produced by Weston and directed by Matt O’Casey, who has worked on ITV’s Nation’s Favourite Number One and BBC2’s two-part doc Queen: Days of our Lives.

Zolkwer said: “Every Now album evokes particular points in people’s lives. This show will take our viewers back through the soundtrack of their lives and help them relive many special moments.”

YES! I will enjoy watching that show!

Million Voices doesn't need a radio edit  It's perfect the way it is

Enjoying this album so far, it feels rather fresh for the most part. Interesting version of Devlin's Rewind on here, launches straight into Diane Birch's chorus which doesn't happen on the version I downloaded from iTunes. Nice to have a radio edit of White Noise finally too!
I'm enjoying it too. Much better than Now 83 for me which is odd for a Spring album.
