Will the UK ever have a proper "trance" hit again (that Armin van Buuren song doesn't count)? Last one I can call was this song which hit the top 40 7 years ago:

 

 

After that, the UK (as well as the universal dance scene) has sort of neglected trance music and just kept it underground.

I didn't know that ever charted!! I used to hear it on Radio 1's Dance Anthems and assumed it got nowhere, had no idea it peaked as high as #39 and as recently as 2007 too.

 

I put the end of trance's domination in the charts to around the middle of 2003, with only the occasional patchy one after that. Hoping that there'll be a revival around the late-2010s.

I know it probably doesn't qualify, but Calvin Harris 'I'm Not Alone' was heavily trance influenced.

 

Regardless I agree the chart needs more trance hits! I was sadly a little too young for the zenith of the late 90s and early 00s.

You're right, it was! More electroey-trance, but still trance-ish. :wub:

You never know. I thought Breach would be a one-hit wonder in the charts, but his 2nd single did almost as well as the first!

 

Plus, Gorgon City had a hit last year with Real even if it didn't make top 40, so it shows there's potential. Not to mention, it seems practically any house song that gets played on Radio 1 is an automatic chart hit atm.

 

I think MNEK will get more chart hits as well (especially if Rudimental ever release Baby as a single).

I hope katy b can stay top 10 now.

Katy lower than I'd hoped but to be top 10 is just great, though it needs to climb!!

 

Otherwise, everything else is in the places I was expecting and good to see Chris Malinchak starting well at 22, which has surprised me as I thought this would struggle as I've not heard it played on tv/radio that much

 

That Just Blaze track should go top 40 on next weeks chart just a shame it got pushed back so many times, could have been huge otherwise
