The BBC Trust has provisionally approved the closure of BBC Three. BBC One and Two have to include more programmes that cater to 16-34 year olds.

The plans for a BBC One +1 have been rejected as it would damage commercial rivals, mainly ITV and Channel 5. It has approved extending CBBC by two hours so that it broadcasts until 9:00pm.

I found this statistic very interesting though :o

BBC Three is currently watched by 11.2 million people every week and reaches 25% of 16-24 year olds. However it is also currently the only BBC channel watched by 925,000 people in that age group - 80% of which are expected to be lost to the BBC with the closure.

This is a stupid thing to say for purely selfish and trivial reasons, but with that loss and the loss of the Olympics, I want the BBC to fall further. Only because someone I know who I passionately and really (really really repeat ad infinitum) hate's dad works there :)
Well it would undoubtedly be, I know. But I needed to get that off my chest.

Looks like BBC II! which suggests to me its BBC2 even though it isnt lol
So they ignored the petition and young people and went ahead with this shoddy closure anyway. No one will watch it online! And they also lost BBC1+1 which was the whole reason for doing it lol. Well done!

Today is the final day of BBC3 as a TV channel :( End of an era! The schedule tonight is a great last hurrah for the channel:

7pm Top Gear

8pm Don't Tell The Bride

9pm Gavin and Stacey

9:30pm Little Britain

10pm Eastenders

10:30pm Bad Education

11pm Family Guy

11:30pm American Dad

12:30am The Mighty Boosh

1am Some Girls

1:30am Cuckoo

2am Josh

2:30am Uncle

3am Siblings

3:30am Gavin and Stacey

Basically most shows that characterised BBC3 over its run as a TV channel. I'm interested to see what happens when it goes online. Will it be a Netflix type service or basically the same as before with BBC3 shows on iplayer as normal?

So it's showing what a shitty channel it was by airing those shows?

Missing Him and Her and a Family Guy American Dad bonaza.

Can't believe they closed this beaut of a channel!!

If they've got room for 2 of that vile shite Gavin and Stacey then they have room for 2 Pints
Nice to see that even on its last day on terrestrial television, BBC is continuing its proud tradition of showing The Mighty Boosh at an unsociable, ungodly hour.
I like the fact that it's like Netflix. For example, the new episode Cuckoo is on there right now, not being broadcast at a certain time. You don't watch the channel live, it's just got everything on it, presumably uploaded at midnight once a week? I presume more is to come, there's not much on there now that's new.
