Do people ACTUALLY like that Selfie thing as a piece of music? :unsure: Seriously, I get that it's amusing/quotable within the video/lyrics context (albeit for about ten seconds), but as a song on its own, there's just no redeeming features at all.

In retrospect I probably should have remembered that #SELFIE is top 10 on US iTunes too...

i kinda feel the same way. seems like all it takes is a few random buzzwords + a dance drop and everyone's hooked :/ (i say that, though i did grow to like Gangnam Style. but that did have at least some amusing/comedic quality to it, this #Selfie thing is just UGHHH)

YAY #SELFIE

 

If it had been held back, it'd probably be looking at a #1, but I'm glad it hasn't and hope it can stick around a bit getting a top 3/5 peak. Been hooked on it for like 3 weeks now. WHO GOES OUT ON MONDAYS?

"#SELFIE" is the quadrangle of evil - it has the generic lazy dance drop probably copied off someone more talented (aka now known as: doing a 'Garrix'), it has that bloody hashtag, synonymous with the whole awful self-interested and narcissistic world of Twitter where everyone talks about themselves - then you have the awful lyrics that were written by some moron who has no concept of wit, who goes out on Mondays? I occasionally do. Shut up. Then you have some really annoying vocal which carries a tone so condescending and unpleasant that it makes you want to smash your computer screen.

 

But apart from that, perfectly harmless crap song.

The thing is with this song is that, as a 20 year old male at university who goes out all the time, I know girls who actually speak like this. A lot. It's a very accurate depiction of what pretentious girls on nights out say to each other.

 

The song in itself doesn't offend me at all. I like it. It's fun.

The fact it's accurate is slightly depressing.

The brown haired woman in the #SELFIE video is so stuck up and rude! She thinks she's all that but really it's her silent blonde friend that deserves more attention.

It's not accurate at all. I don't know any girls like that. I think it's just either girls from the US or girls from the little towns in the countryside that act like that. Whoever it is, it's pathetic.

 

And I'm going out next Monday. It's not unusual (unless you live in the countryside again lol).
