March 14, 201412 yr (See the thread Ben linked), but I want to clear up one misconception you seem to have - an instant grat isn't "free"! Its not a misconception.... its just paying 99p upfront off the total cost of the album... so if the album is 8.99 you pay 99p then £8 later no? What I am saying is.... people who are going to download Kiss Me Once on Sunday could pre-order Friday and Saturday and the sale would count a sale towards the single.... Anyway. Chart Prediction now looks likely to be 13-14
March 14, 201412 yr I wonder how far behind the others are, I could see A Great Big World overtaking and putting her at #12 but hopefully no lower than that. It's such a shame...
March 14, 201412 yr Sorry I didn't see your rquest until now, its #32 Thank you, 8 place improvement from Wednesday update is excellent, he should 100% stay top 40 now :yahoo:
March 14, 201412 yr This thread is woeful. People trying to mock 1D for like a #30 peak off the biggest selling album of last year, erm ok. Maybe you can mock when their lead single tanks. The Kylie talk is so annoying, whatever it peaks #8-#15 it will be gone next week, so who really cares anyway. Well, we Kylie fans do, for a start... ;) In any case, if/when she performs it on The Voice, it will bounce back quite strongly.
March 14, 201412 yr Well, we Kylie fans do, for a start... ;) In any case, if/when she performs it on The Voice, it will bounce back quite strongly. But it is just like a Saturdays song, if a song is going to peak high and fall because of being held back and essentially multiple buys (CD and download) then to me any peak it gets is meaningless. Yeah the fans might get a a 'woooo' out of it but when it drops like a stone and sells 100k and looks terrible for a high peak it isn't exactly anything to get excited by.
March 14, 201412 yr Its not a misconception.... its just paying 99p upfront off the total cost of the album... so if the album is 8.99 you pay 99p then £8 later no? Read the thread *Ben* linked. This is all covered in there. If you are using that logic you could technically call it free, but by the same logic almost all singles downloaded from iTunes are 'free'. This thread is woeful. People trying to mock 1D for like a #30 peak off the biggest selling album of last year, erm ok. Maybe you can mock when their lead single tanks. High album sales are not a free pass for a single to bomb as hard as 'Midnight Memories' has for an act of their stature. (And it was the highest selling album of last year, yes - with one of the lowest totals to achieve that title in the history of the charts). High album sales prior to release did nothing to stop 'One Thing' and 'Kiss You' going top 10 and having a few weeks in the top 40 ahead of the EP release.

Obviously as she's my number one favourite and has been pretty much all my life, I am going to want the best for her. The single is not doing great, I'm not going to try and deny that but I'd rather remember the song as a top 10 hit even if it dropped than one that missed the top 10 and dropped anyway (obviously top 10 is out of the question now anyway, but alas).
March 14, 201412 yr Anyhow, I am surprised to see Kylie out of the top 10 already, I thought she might have just missed out come the end of the week but was expecting her to still be around #8/9 today :o I wonder how things would have played out if the single version wasn't pointlessly deleted... Really hope Pharrell can somehow re-overtake Enrique to get another week top 3 but it's not going to happen. 'I'm A Freak' will be Enrique's highest peaking single since 'Do You Know? (The Ping Pong Song)' also got to #3 in 2007. Bizarre.

I think that is what has essentially killed it this week, I knew the moment they did it that this would happen. Oh well, no accounting for the stupidity of record labels sometimes...
March 14, 201412 yr Why exactly did they delete the single version, I don't really get it? What purpose does it serve?
March 14, 201412 yr I think that is what has essentially killed it this week, I knew the moment they did it that this would happen. Oh well, no accounting for the stupidity of record labels sometimes... It was so silly. I remember Leona Lewis did this too with One More Sleep, but only when the album version had overtaken the single, which makes a lot more sense. I wonder if 1D will hold onto the top 40, considering they're selling so little each day. I think they'll be #40 on Sunday. Edited March 14, 201412 yr by joepassmore
March 14, 201412 yr Record companies aren't stupid, they make decision that will make the most money. Deleting the single version was obviously to try and push more albums. If the song was going to be a true hit it wouldn't matter anyway.
March 14, 201412 yr It didn't push more albums though so it was a failed decision on multiple levels
March 14, 201412 yr Why exactly did they delete the single version, I don't really get it? What purpose does it serve? With sales split between two versions, I guess they decided that they wanted sales to be concentrated in just one version, so the song could appear higher up in the iTunes chart i.e. top 10. If that was the intention, it certainly backfired. The album version was barely Top 50 when the deletion occurred, so it wasn't as prominent in the iTunes chart as the higher selling single version had been. :drama: It's taken a few days for the album version to pick up steam, but its progress has been too slow.
March 14, 201412 yr As silly as deleting the top version was, it also, of course, comes down to not enough people wanting or knowing about the song. Pharrell has twice had his top version deleted of 'Happy' and has been back at the top with a newer version within a day. Edited March 14, 201412 yr by joepassmore
March 14, 201412 yr Well they've certainly boosted Kylie-related discussion on chart analysis internet forums and thus raised awareness of her single, which must count for something right? Right guys ? Yeah, there's really nothing good that came of the decision.

March 14, 201412 yr It makes a mockery of trying to get the single played on radio etc and then they pull it..... probably next single won't get played at all. Pity Kylie can't do some promo tonight or tomorrow. I bet she is fuming....... not because she is that bothered, but because it looks bad for her and the record label. To be fair selling the Vinyl and CD at 499 plus 2.99 p&p is a joke and also limiting vinyl to 1500 copies worldwide zzzzz Does anyone know the songs that are 9th and 10th? Is there any case for singles revenue to be the main chart again like it used to be , rather than sales?

I'm guessing Kylie is #11 because John Legend zoomed past, which is fair enough, there's also Sam Smith and Katy Perry ahead too. Kylie will probably be #12 as A Great Big World I imagine will overtake too.
