She is the daughter of Keith Allen and film producer Alison Owen. Allen abandoned school when she was 15 and concentrated on improving her performing and compositional skills. In 2005, she made some of her recordings public on Myspace and the publicity resulted in airplay on BBC Radio One and a contract with Regal Recordings. Her first mainstream single, "Smile", reached the top position on the UK Singles Chart in July 2006. Her debut record, Alright, Still, was well received, selling over 2.6 million copies worldwide and brought Allen a nomination at the Grammy Awards, BRIT Awards and MTV Video Music Awards. She began hosting her own talk-show, Lily Allen and Friends, on BBC Three. Her second studio album, It's Not Me, It's You, saw a genre shift, having more of an electropop feel, rather than the ska and reggae influences of the first one. The album debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and the Australian ARIA Charts and was well received by critics, noting the singer's musical evolution and maturity. It spawned the hit singles "The Fear" and "f*** You", popular mostly in Europe. Allen and Amy Winehouse have been credited with starting a process that led to the media-proclaimed "year of the women" in 2009 that has seen five female artists making music of "experimentalism and fearlessness" nominated for the Mercury Prize. In 2009 Allen announced that she would be taking a hiatus from musical activities. During 2010, Allen opened a fashion rental shop "Lucy in Disguise" with her sister Sarah, followed by the 2011 launching of her own record label. In 2013, Allen revealed that she had begun working on her third studio album. On November 12, 2013 Allen premiered the video for her first original song since 2009, "Hard Out Here", which will be released as a single on November 17. - Wikipedia Chart history (Year peak title): 2006 01 Smile -1- 2006 06 LDN -2- 2006 21 Littlest Things -3- 2007 15 Alfie -4- 2007 08 Oh My God (Mark Ronson Feat. March 16, 201412 yr So glad that Rihanna passed on 'Timber'. It'd likely be hanging around even longer had she done it.
March 16, 201412 yr Quite like Air Balloon, but nothing special. I think she is trying to hard to be unique and controversial
March 16, 201412 yr Really?! That sounds so elegant which is not what I want from an artist who sings about getting pissed and sex. Maybe she dropped DOCTOR LUKE
March 16, 201412 yr Really?! That sounds so elegant which is not what I want from an artist who sings about getting pissed and sex. I'm gathering that she's not doing that any more. I'm kind of glad if so, from what I've read about her as a person it was such a fake persona.
March 16, 201412 yr Quite like Air Balloon, but nothing special. I think she is trying to hard to be unique and controversial I feel the same way, the song's just harmless but doesn't stand out.

On May 10, 2011, Perri's "Jar of Hearts" was featured in the "Prom Night" episode of Fox musical series Glee; the following month, it was featured in the episode "Dance Amongst Daggers" of ABC Family drama Switched at Birth. March 16, 201412 yr I'm gathering that she's not doing that any more. I'm kind of glad if so, from what I've read about her as a person it was such a fake persona. And she has better songs than those that her company painfully chose for the singles.
March 16, 201412 yr Anyone else hearing Let It Go in this? The bridge and chorus are almost the same!
March 16, 201412 yr Maybe she dropped DOCTOR LUKE  ------- I hope Christina Perri doesn't have that awkward-number-14-hit. I'd be pleased if Radio 1 got behind it and it went top 10
March 16, 201412 yr Christina Perri top 15 :cheer: such a beautiful song, good to see her returning to 'Jar of Hearts' quality after 'A Thousand Years' (although JoH is still better than Human)
