Drake has launched legal action against Universal Music Group and Spotify, alleging they conspired to artificially inflate interest in Kendrick Lamar’s diss track about him, Not Like Us, while suppressing his own music.

In a petition filed to the New York supreme court on Monday, attorneys for Drake’s company Frozen Moments LLC accused UMG and the streaming service of having “launched a campaign to manipulate and saturate the streaming services and airwaves”, using various tactics to make Lamar’s song more popular.

Drake has filed a second legal action against record label Universal Music over Kendrick Lamar's hit Not Like Us, which was released at the height of the pair's feud earlier this year.

The star has accused Universal of defamation, and his legal papers claim the company could have halted the release of a song "falsely accusing him of being a sex offender".

Instead, his lawyers claim, Universal "executed a plan" to make the song "a viral mega-hit", and used Lamar's incendiary lyrics "to drive consumer hysteria and, of course, massive revenues".

It comes a day after Drake filed papers in New York, accusing the company of illegally boosting the song's profile on Spotify. Universal has called the claims "offensive and untrue".

Rapper A$AP Rocky has been found not guilty of firing a gun at a former friend.

A jury in Los Angeles acquitted the musician, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, on two felony assault charges that carried up to 24 years in prison.

Terell Ephron claimed the Grammy-nominated hip-hop star opened fire at him during an argument on a Hollywood street on 6 November 2021, grazing his knuckles with one of the shots.

Mr Mayers, who is also a fashion mogul and the longtime partner of pop star Rihanna, denied the charges, arguing that the weapon was a prop gun and that his former friend, who calls himself A$AP Relli, was only after money.

As the first not-guilty verdict was read on Tuesday, the court rang with screams and clapping. Mr Mayers rushed towards his family and Rihanna, who were seated behind him. He dived over a wooden barrier to embrace them.

Nicki seems to be beefing with SZA now...

She's truly insufferable drama

^ this latest crashout from her seems to have stemmed from a tweet by Punch (CEO of Top Dawg Entertainment) just saying 'Broken Barbies'... which had nothing to do with her at all and was just promoting a song of that title by a new TDE artist lmao
