The Blasé Boys Club/Virgin EMI single reached nearly 70,000 up to the end of Tuesday, according to the Official Charts Company, with Rinse/Virgin EMI’s Route 94’s My Love featuring Jess Glynne holding at 2 with around 25,000 sales. Duke Dumont topped the chart last year with I Need U (100%). Columbia’s John Legend could be heading for a new UK singles chart peak with All Of Me rising 6-3 as sales lift 36%. His 2005 hit Ordinary People is his current best showing, having reached No 4 in 2012 after enjoying a new lease of life through being covered on BBC One’s The Voice. Little Mix are aiming for a fifth Top 10 hit with the Syco-issued Word Up new at 4 as Ministry of Sound track Tsunami (Jump) by DVBBS and Bourgeous featuring Tinie Tempah drops 1-5. Republic/Island act Enrique Iglesias’s I’m A Freak featuring Pitbull is down 4-9 in the week so far, while Example is aiming for a fifth Top 10 hit in his own right with the Epic-issued Kids Again currently showing up as a new entry at 10. Avicii’s Positiva/PRMD single Addicted To You continues to progress with sales up 61% in the week to date to lift it 24-16, while Atlantic’s Trey Songz is new at 17 with Na Na. Meanwhile, the Human League’s Eighties classic Don’t You Want Me is subject to an unexpected chart revival after Aberdeen football fans used it as a chant to cheer on their winning team at the weekend. The club lifted the Scottish League Cup, their first trophy in 19 years, in a match in which their supporters chanted “Peter Pawlett baby” to the tune of the Human League hit, which reached No 1 in 1981 and has sold around 1.6 million copies in the UK, making it Virgin Records’ most successful single of all time. It is back at No 21 on the midweeks as the result of a social media campaign. - Source: MW, by Paul Williams ~~~ Midweek Album Charts: George Michael set for chart-topping return George Michael’s first album since 2006 is set to score him his seventh solo No1 in the UK. The EMI-issued Symphonica has opened up a sales lead of around 50% over Kiss Me Once, the new album from Parlophone’s Kylie Minogue, with Pharrell Williams’ G I R L in third spot, according to the Official Charts Company. Symphonica is the first album from Michael since the retrospective Twenty five, which topped the chart in November 2006. That was his sixth solo chart-topper in the UK, a sequence dating back to Faith in 1987, while with Wham! he reached No 1 twice. Minogue’s Kiss Me Once is the follow-up to 2010’s chart-topping Aphrodite and her first since Parlophone was acquired last year by Warner. With Symphonica it is among an onslaught of six brand new entries in the Top 10 at this stage of the week, while there are a further eight new entries between positions 11 and 40. Going To Hell, New York City band Pretty Reckless’s second album and first for Cooking Vinyl, is new at 6 currently, the same position where their 2010 debut Light Me Up peaked. Immediately below are three further new entries from Nicholas McDonald, Lea Michele and Kian Egan. X Factor 2013 runner-up McDonald’s RCA debut In The Arms Of An Angel is placed seventh in the week so far, while Glee star Lea Michele’s first solo outing Louder on Columbia is eighth. Former Westlife star Kian Egan is also venturing out as a solo act for the first time with the Rhino-handled Home new at 9. The high number of brand new entries means only four survivors from last Sunday’s Top 10 remain in the 10 at this point in the week. They are led by RCA-handled Pharrell Williams’ G I R L holding at 3, while Fiction/Polydor act Elbow’s The Take Off And Landing Of Everything drops 1-4, RCA act Paloma Faith’s A Perfect Contradiction falls 2-5 and John Legend’s Columbia set Love In The Future drops 6-10. US electronic artist Skrillex heads the new entries outside the Top 10 with his new Asylum/Atlantic title at 11 as Republic/Island’s Enrique Iglesias pops up in 12th position in the week so far with Sex And Love. Other brand new entries come from EMI’s American Authors in 14th position, Secretly Canadian’s War On Drugs in 15th spot and Integrity Music’s Rend Colective in 20th. A new Belinda Carlisle retrospective from DMG TV is 23rd, while Engelbert Humperdinck is heading for his first charting studio album since 2001 with the Conehead-issued Engelbert Calling in 28th. He previously charted in 2012 with compilation Release Me – The Best Of. - Source: MW, by Paul Williams Wednesday Update Top 40 Only Source: Radio 1/OCC Top 40 Singles 1 Duke Dumont/ Jax Jones * (69k exactly) 2 Route 94/ Jess Glynne (24,7k) 3 John Legend (19,7k) 4 Little Mix * (18,9k) 5 DVBBS & Borgeous/ Tinie Tempah (18,3k) 6-10 10 Example * 11-20 14 The Chainsmokers 16 Avicii [Addicted To You] 17 Trey Songz * 21-30 21 The Human League ^ 24 Idina Menzel 27 Kylie Minogue [into The Blue] 31-40 35 London Grammar [Hey Now] * 38 Paolo Nutini * http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/updatesingles/print http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-news/d...h-i-got-u-2834/ An explanation for the Human League song is here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-nort...etland-26644617 =================================================== Top 40 Albums 1 George Michael * (25,500) 2 Kylie Minogue * (16,877) 3 Pharrell Williams (7.1k - 49 copies ahead) 4 Elbow (7k) 5 Paloma Faith (6.8k) 6-10 6 The Pretty Reckless * 7 Nicholas McDonald * 8 Lea Michele * 9 Kian Egan * 11-20 11 Skrillex * 12 Enrique Iglesias * 14 American Authors* 15 The War On Drugs * 20 Rend Collective * 21-30 23 Belinda Carlisle * 28 Englebert Humperdinck * 30 Bruno Mars 31-40 38 Taking Back Sunday * http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/updatealbums/print
March 17, 201411 yr Author Midweek Charts update: George Michael to stretch chart-topping run to three decades Source: MW, by Paul Williams George Michael will stretch his run of UK No 1 albums to more than three decades this weekend as Symphonica heads to the top. The EMI-issued album now has a sales lead of 70% over its nearest rival, Parlophone act Kylie Minogue's Kiss Me Once, according to the Official Charts Company, and will become his seventh solo chart-topper. He has also led the countdown with Wham! on two occasions. The artist first topped the UK albums chart in July 1983 with Wham!'s debut Fanatstic, which ruled for three weeks, while as a solo act first hit No 1 in November 1987 with Faith. Six of his seven solo albums before Symphonica made No 1, with 1999's Songs From The Last Century stopping at No 2, while he last reached No 1 with the retrospective Twenty Five in November 2006. In a busy week for new releases, there are six brand new titles among the Top 10 artist sellers at this stage of the week with the new arrivals also including RCA-signed X Factor 2013 runner-up Nicholas McDonald, Pretty Reckless with their Cooking Vinyl debut and second album in all, former Westlife star Kian Egan with his Rhino solo debut and Columbia-signed Glee star Lea Michele. On singles Duke Dumont is on is way to an opening tally of more than 100,000 units for I Got U, featuring Jax Jones and released by Blase Boys Club/Virgin EMI. It has already sold around 90,000 copies in the week so far, about 50,000 more than Rinse/Virgin act Route 94's My Love featuring Jess Glynne at No 2. Columbia act John Legend's All Of Me continues to grow, rising 6-3 in the week to date with sales up 24%, while Syco's Little Mix are brand new at 5 with Word Up. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Friday Update Top 40 Only Singles 1 Duke Dumont/ Jax Jones * (88,9k) 2 Route 94/ Jess Glynne (38,1k) 3 John Legend (31K) 4 DVBBS & Borgeous/ Tinie Tempah (28k) 5 Litttle Mix * (24,6K) 11-20 11 Example * 13 The Human League ^ 14 The Chainsmokers 16 Avicii [Addicted To You] 19 Trey Songz * 21-30 24 Idina Menzel 28 Kylie Minogue [into The Blue] 31-40 36 London Grammar [Hey Now] * 40 Paolo Nutini * An explanation for the Human League song is here - http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-nort...etland-26644617 ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Albums 1 George Michael * (38,523) 2 Kylie Minogue * (22,694) 3 Pharrell Williams (11,8k) 4 Elbow (11,6k) 5 Paloma Faith (11,1k) 6-10 6 Nicholas McDonald * 7 The Pretty Reckless * 9 Kian Egan * 10 Lea Michele * 11-20 11 Skrillex * 12 Enrique Iglesias * 15 The War On Drugs * 20 American Authors* 21-30 23 Rend Collective * 25 Belinda Carlisle * 29 Englebert Humperdinck * 28 Bruno Mars
March 18, 201411 yr Who'd have thought it was 2014! George Michael and Kylie fighting it out for the number one album  Duke will have the number one with a massive lead, maybe 150k by end of the week
March 18, 201411 yr Lots of new albums this week, it will be nice to see Sky Ferriera enter inside the 40, but I think its going to struggle for a top 40 entry. Looks like a lot of new albums from last week will be falling though.
March 18, 201411 yr Duke Dumont is a guaranteed number 1 single this week, and i believe Kylie will beat George Michael to the album top spot.
March 18, 201411 yr Wonder if Lea Michele will get into the top ten album charts, she's been doing pretty well on itunes
March 18, 201411 yr Duke Dumont is a guaranteed number 1 single this week, and i believe Kylie will beat George Michael to the album top spot. Im not expecting kylie to make no1 to be honest.
March 18, 201411 yr Im not expecting kylie to make no1 to be honest. I would be shocked if she wasn't!
March 18, 201411 yr I'm at peace with Kylie being a TOP20 on singles but I sure won't with her being denied the #1 on the album charts. For real. She seriously WON'T DO ANY TV PROMO?
March 18, 201411 yr She is doing promo tonight at MasterCard priceless gig, Sport Relief on Friday (performing Especially For You and an album track) The Voice on Saturday followed by GAY gig on Saturday Night.... But George Michael is ahead on ITunes and also on play.com and amazon etc... I see him number 1 and maybe Kylie two.. but kylie.com may well have sold quite a few copies too..
March 18, 201411 yr As I said in another thread I think people are underestimating George Michael - Out of his 7 solo albums 6 have topped the charts and the other one reached #2 - He is a consistent album seller despite long spa between releases.
March 18, 201411 yr George Michael does have a good hit rate with albums, but he has not released an album in a while and its a live album so it may have bearings on the outcome, Kylie herself has had 5 previous number 1 albums, although some of her other albums have missed the top 5.
March 18, 201411 yr Sayhey is reporting that George is no 1 and Kylie no 2 - George on 15,943 and Kylie on 13,114 Edited March 18, 201411 yr by iain
March 18, 201411 yr Sayhey is reporting that George is no 1 and Kylie no 2 - George on 15,943 and Kylie on 13,114 If that's the case then she's definitely not gonna catch him, however it's still a pretty good result for her.
March 18, 201411 yr #2 is hardly a bad result  George Michael just has a very loyal fanbase. Really hoping Nicholas McDonald can get a top 10 album :D Would also love Kylie to get to #1 and Lea Michele top 10 but I don't think either will happen (especially with Lea not being stocked by supermarkets, or at least Tesco).
March 18, 201411 yr (especially with Lea not being stocked by supermarkets, or at least Tesco). Oh :/ Was hoping to see / buy it in ASDA tonight, but maybe not. :heehee:
March 18, 201411 yr It's fairly obvious she's not the powerful force she once was and she's a fanbase act now, she's in the same bracket as Madonna and Britney who are considered last generation's popstars but will probably make all their money from touring and stuff from now on.
March 18, 201411 yr Was in HMV yesterday, and Nicholas' artwork looks terrible physically! It looks like a temporary holding cover. His shelf of CDs looked untouched as well.
