How often does a new release climb by Sunday from its midweek position? Skrillex looks like doing so, if a little by default. Good album though.
Wonder what chance there is of The Human League getting back in the top 5? Not sure if my hometown campaign's legs have run out yet...

I don't think there's a chance. Don't You Want Me is already out of the iTunes top 10.

I have no reasons.... Kylie has a very niche following these days, but to be fair apart from Fever, her albums don't usually sell millions! so a 30k start is pretty satisfactory... people just piss me off saying the era is over when it is a 1st week release...

George far more mainstream still and his songs on this album and he himself attract a much larger spectrum so far....... so credit to him.

You seem to think that because I have Kylie in my username that I am one of these weird Kylie fans who think she rules the world.... far from it.......

Yea your right I wasnt having a go just commenting on your comments from throughout the week!

We have top 40 mids, give me 10 mins while I make a cup of tea.

Midweek Charts update: George Michael to stretch chart-topping run to three decades

Source: MW, by Paul Williams

George Michael will stretch his run of UK No 1 albums to more than three decades this weekend as Symphonica heads to the top.

The EMI-issued album now has a sales lead of 70% over its nearest rival, Parlophone act Kylie Minogue's Kiss Me Once, according to the Official Charts Company, and will become his seventh solo chart-topper. He has also led the countdown with Wham! on two occasions.

The artist first topped the UK albums chart in July 1983 with Wham!'s debut Fanatstic, which ruled for three weeks, while as a solo act first hit No 1 in November 1987 with Faith. Six of his seven solo albums before Symphonica made No 1, with 1999's Songs From The Last Century stopping at No 2, while he last reached No 1 with the retrospective Twenty Five in November 2006.

In a busy week for new releases, there are six brand new titles among the Top 10 artist sellers at this stage of the week with the new arrivals also including RCA-signed X Factor 2013 runner-up Nicholas McDonald, Pretty Reckless with their Cooking Vinyl debut and second album in all, former Westlife star Kian Egan with his Rhino solo debut and Columbia-signed Glee star Lea Michele.

On singles Duke Dumont is on is way to an opening tally of more than 100,000 units for I Got U, featuring Jax Jones and released by Blase Boys Club/Virgin EMI. It has already sold around 90,000 copies in the week so far, about 50,000 more than Rinse/Virgin act Route 94's My Love featuring Jess Glynne at No 2. Columbia act John Legend's All Of Me continues to grow, rising 6-3 in the week to date with sales up 24%, while Syco's Little Mix are brand new at 5 with Word Up.

Good to see Little Mix holding onto the top 5, they might actually manage for Sunday now, the fall next week will probably be horrific though.

Little Mix should stay top 5 then, considering they have a performance on Sport Relief tonight (I think).

Hope Paolo and London Grammar can somehow hold on to the top 40 .

Funny to see acts like Nicholas and Kian actually climb throughout the week in the album chart. They're lucky to have fellow front-loaded/fanbase acts like The Pretty Reckless and Lea Michele as their closest competition. I guess the Mother's Day effect could already be working in their favour as well. Can't imagine TPR's 'Going To Hell' lends itself too well to such sales. My mother will just have to deal.

A lead of over 70%? How on earth did that happen? Means he is over 80k now.
Duke Dumont should do near to around 120 K then - less than I was expecting actually. I hope Adam manages a second week at the top like last time.

Looks like the public are bagging it up early for Mother's Day

Haha, though Mothers day isn't for another week.

Someone else has suggested he is 70% ahead of her total. Which would make more sense.

^ Don't forget Kylie's contribution to the increasing lead ;). (Let's not all panic though because I'm sure I read somewhere that she has promo coming imminently :D)

No, it means he's on about 39k :). The 70% is of Kylie's total.

EDIT: You already corrected yourself, sorry.
