April 13, 201412 yr I don't think it really matters *who* bought them, just that they did and it counts to the chart...? A record bought by 50,000 different people is genuinely more popular than one that sold 94,000 but was only purchased by a ~30,000 (and that's being generous) strong fan base.
April 13, 201412 yr It gives the impression that a song is more popular then it actually is. That's the point being made. I understand that, but I think "popular" doesn't necessarily have to be amongst different people. Evidently the song was popular enough within the fanbase for them to buy multiple versions, which is a fair point I think?

The core four-piece of the group were known as the Chatto Quartet, a classically trained string quartet that performed J.S. Bach and cited Jacqueline du Pré as an influence, but their post-show, wind-down music often consisted of garage, two-step, Craig David, and Arcade Fire tracks. The quartet members were aware of both producer Jon Wandeck and MC Ssegamic through the duo's work in photography, and when Wandeck suggested they play on one of his house music cuts, Clean Bandit were born. With MC Ssegamic on the mike, they released the classical-meets-house-meets-hip-hop-meets-heartbreak song "Telephone Banking" in the summer of 2011. Their Dance Armstrong mixtape followed in 2012, while 2013 saw the release of their Mozart's House EP. - iTunes Chart history (Year peak title): Clean Bandit 2013 17 Mozart's House -1- 2013 43 Dust Clears -2- 2014 01 Rather Be (Clean Bandit Feat. April 13, 201412 yr Extraordinary is growing on me now, hope it spends a few weeks in the top 10 when released!
April 13, 201412 yr 'Dark Horse' has done a lot better than I thought it would. It was obvious it'd go top 5 but I thought it'd have fallen quite a bit further han it has by now.
April 13, 201412 yr I understand that, but I think "popular" doesn't necessarily have to be amongst different people. Evidently the song was popular enough within the fanbase for them to buy multiple versions, which is a fair point I think? I would think that would be mean the band/brand was more popular amoungst their fans than the actual song. Who would want the same song so many times?
April 13, 201412 yr (31) Coming Home-Kaiser Chiefs I like this band and I think that this is one of the best songs in the countdown.
April 13, 201412 yr Rather Be  I remember this being on the Big Brother Final - gosh it's been around a while.

April 13, 201412 yr Not a huge fan of it but it would have been great to see it Top 10 just because of how HUGE Frozen has been. I agree with this. But if it becomes one of those massive-selling #11s (which, it kind of is now), that's fine too!
