A billion girls in the world but they won't get The Vamps a #1 album

The most anticipated release of 2014 so far comes from Canadian singer Kiesza with her poppy-house debut 'Hideaway' and it is now on course for the #1 spot this week with perhaps the highest sales of the year. Also looking to be a big new entry is Shift K3y with 'Touch' - from the very little information I can find, he's a British singer, DJ and producer who has ended up on the Radio 1 A-list. Elsewhere in the Top 10 should see the remix of indie pop/rock act Tove Lo's 'Stay High' continue to climb whilst Elyar Fox's second single 'A Billion Girls' and grime artist Meridian Dan's 'German Whip' are battling for a Top 10 debut. In the rest of the Top 40, the title track of The Black Keys' upcoming album Turn Blue and Showtek's 'Cannonball (Earthquake)' are looking to debut.

The #1 spot in the albums should see some better sales than the previous couple of weeks - perhaps even the best sales of the year so far - as Paolo Nutini returns with his third album Caustic Love. Runner-up position should see some good sales too as it looks likely pop-rock band The Vamps will debut there. Unfortunately the rest of the album chart will see the usual underwhelming sales with very little activity in terms of new entries - perhaps Ian Anderson, Rhydian, Ben Watt, Morten Harket or another nobody could make impact in the Top 40.

The Black Keys' song won't chart btw, it's the 2nd instant grat from their album (unless they make the other song ineligible of course but I can't see that happening)

Elyar for a top 10 debut and The Vamps/Iggy to both spend a second week there please!

Ah thanks - I did wonder if it was an instant grat but I thought that it would have been the first rather than the second.

I think that Kiesza tune is awful, and the video looks like a Cathy Dennis tribute.

Very surprised that it heading to #1

omg @ "Billion girls in the world but they won't get The Vamps a #1 album"

Would've been more impressive had Keisza opened on near 90K but 72k is still thoroughly impressive.

I would be happy about Paolo topping the album chart also but after listening to the album it's a bit disappointing :(

Edited by Robert!

150k pronto for Kiesza then.

Meridian Dan should be low top-10 by the end of the week despite their top version falling out of the top-10 in iTunes.

Where are Pharrell and the Saturdays in the singles?

Do we have a Kylie update? Is she still top 40?

GO KIESZA! :cheer: :cheer: Ugh at 'German Whip' being #4.

Seems the top 2 albums are set in stone, not that we didn't know that anyway. Paolo will probably do over 90k by the end of the week, The Vamps perhaps pushing 50k.

Oh, and Elyar could well drop out of the top-10 by Sunday, and Tove Lo should climb to #6, hopefully she'll gain even more steam and aim for the top-5.
:o at those sales for Kiesza. :w00t: Happy to see two Paolo tracks climbing this week, obviously due to the album being released. Great to see him already on 43k for the albums too. He looks certain for the biggest weekly sales of the year now! :D The Vamps are doing quite well too.
Where are Pharrell and the Saturdays in the singles?

Pharrell #9

Saturdays #37

Do we have a Kylie update? Is she still top 40?

Out of the top 40 :o
