Related, here is a breakdown of the nationality of top 10 hits so far this year:

UK 24 (incl. 1 UK/USA)

USA 13 (incl. 1 USA/Barbados, 1 USA/UK)

Netherlands 3

Sweden 3 (incl. 1 Sweden/USA)

Australia 2

France 2 (incl. 1 France/Australia, 1 France/USA)

Canada 1 (incl. 1 Canada/USA/UK)

Russia 1 (incl. 1 Russia/USA)

Spain 1 (incl. 1 Spain/USA)

Sweden will go up to 4 today with Tove Lo entering but Netherlands will match them again next week. Of course all 4 Swedish top 10 hits will be different acts (Alesso, Avicii, John Martin and Tove Lo) while Netherlands includes 2 Martin Garrix songs plus Tiësto and Mr Probz.

Surprised to see nothing at all from Ireland this year so far

Don't worry, I hear Jedward have got a new single out soon.

Not as big a hit but Hardwell is another Dutch act who's charted recently.

Well One Direction's 'Story Of My Life' is included as a 2014 top 10 hit in my list so Niall Horan technically getting it for the Irish :P The highest charting new hit of 2014 by a part-Irish act is 'Not Giving Up' (#19) I believe and the highest charting entirely Irish act, unless I've completely overlooked something, appears to be U2 with just a #65 hit ('Invisible') :o

(Note that despite having 'Irish' in their name, The Irish Brigade don't count as they are from Northern Ireland)

Oh great... Mr. Probz is gonna be my birthday #1 for this year :(

I'm on Team Indiana this week :D best new entry of the week

Could be worse.. 10 years ago it was Eamon with "F**k It (I Don't Want You Back)". (*ERASES ENTIRE MEMORY OF SPRING 2004*)

Yes, they should really threaten... the top 1000. :w00t:

Boo at Cash Cash overtaking Indiana. Though I do quite like 'Take Me Home' for what it is and 'Solo Dancing' is the weakest Indiana song I've heard (but still I really want her to break through so she can have success with better songs later).

This DJ Cassidy person is apparently super rich and in demand at celebrity events and whatnot and has been for years despite this being literally his first single?! Also his Wikipedia page says he's been active 'since the 1990s' and yet has a section called '2011-12: early beginnings'. Bizarre.

The Kooks are at #238. Welp. Their EP is still top 10 at least :P

But Left Outside Alone was slaying back then :(

I'm one of the seemingly rare huge fans of Waves on here so I'm very pleased to see it dominating! Also love Take Me Home but moreso about 4 months ago than I do now.

I haven't really connected with the Indiana or DJ Cassidy songs and the Neon Jungle song is good enough but a step down from the excellent Braveheart for me.

Waves is a grower I think, at first I didn't get it but now I love it

10. Welcome to the Jungle - Neon Jungle

Yay, another song climbing into the top 10 and making Happy leaving the top 10 more and more likely :cheer:

I hate Waves, it just doesn't go anywhere. Pleased DJ Cassidy is doing well - normally I hate Jessie and Robin, but the song is undeniably catchy.
It's just occurred to me that 'Waves' is kind of a fusion of the 2 biggest sounds in the chart so far this year (deep house a la Route 94 / Duke Dumont / FAUL and soul a la Pharrell / Aloe Blacc / John Legend). Perhaps that explains why it's such a big hit :P The actual song, as much as I love it, really doesn't sound like a huge selling #1 to me.

Shift K3y's song is like that as well. When I first heard it I thought it was going to be an R&B song, until the drums came in.

lol. I think that would be a good birthday #1 tbh. It's one of the most memorable #1s of the whole decade.

Welcome to The Jungle? Do we expect this to fall short of Braveheart? In my opinion it's a far inferior song.
In my opinion its miles better than Braveheart but it'll probably reach 5 or 6 instead..

1 Mr. Probz - Waves (Robin Schulz Radio Edit) 1.0000

2 Kiesza - Hideaway 0.5492

'Hideaway' is probably likely to have a massive 2nd week sales dip based on how quickly its lead over Sigma dissipated but this still bodes well for very high sales for Mr Probz, hopefully a 3rd #1 in a row over 120k?
