20th of July release week:

65 Cheryl Cole - Crazy Stupid Love (feat. Tinie Tempah)

68 MAGIC! - Rude (Though many are saying Cheryl's number 1 is set in stone, I still think this will be an exciting and unpredictable chart battle)

430 Charli XCX -Boom Clap (This should definitely go top 10 now, I'd be so happy with top 5 though, great song and artist)

535 Neon Jungle - Louder (Nothing has clicked with me apart from Braveheart with this band, I think it will manage the top ten with a similar, or maybe worse tumble down the charts to Welcome To The Jungle)

Nope. I think it's fair to say Cheryl will 100% be number one on that week - her pre-orders will be too difficult to overcome tbh. I'm still not so sure that Neon Jungle will go top 10 - surprising that Capital have just snubbed them following their biggest hit in 'Braveheart'.

I would absolutely love for 'Rude' to beat 'Crazy Stupid Love' as it's a much better song (and I find Cheryl's music to generally be quite uninspired and lazy and a #2 could make her step it up a bit in the future) but I can't see it happening.

some other potentially big releases from the July 20 week ~

174. X Ambassadors & Jamie N Commons - Jungle (Remix) [feat. JAY Z]

477. MK - Always (feat. Alana) [Route 94 Radio Edit]

i'm very interested to see how these do. didn't expect 'Jungle' to be moved forward, but nonetheless it's doing surprisingly well on pre-orders. 'Always' sounds like it could be a big hit, but might still be too early to tell for sure

as for Neon Jungle; it does seem weird Capital FM haven't gotten behind them lately, but Louder does seem to be getting plenty of airplay from 'smaller' stations (Hits Radio, Forth One etc.), and I think they easily have enough of a fanbase now to reach top 10. Not sure on Boom Clap, will wait and see how that progresses over the next week or so

Spending a whole month at #60 (that's basically what Cheryl did) equals to spending a whole week at #20 in terms of sales on Itunes. So it's far from being unreachable. Especially since MAGIC! is shoothing up on pre-orders and will most likely spend the next two weeks well ahead of Cheryl. At best Cheryl could have a 5k lead thanks to pre-orders, but not much more.

I really think she will have to settle with #2, which would still be a great result for a 4th album campaign (and the lead single coming later this year anyway).

You using IE is the issue here :magic:

I like the new format.

It is more readable, but my extraction spreadsheet is set up to receive input from files from IE...

64. MAGIC! - Rude

66. Cheryl Cole - Crazy Stupid Love (feat. Tinie Tempah)

I wonder if good old Chezza can manage to overtake Magic! at any other point before release.

C'mon MAGIC! The bigger and better hit for sure.

Yeah this is exactly right. The rate MAGIC! are climbing iTunes on pre-orders makes this a possibility and while I don't think they will quite beat Cheryl as things stand, it's definitely not a guaranteed conclusion that Cheryl will be #1 as many people think.

Can anyone be so kond and tell me if the release of the 'Transformers' film has boosted Imagine Dragons 'Battle Cry', much please? (I'm on my phone otherwise I'd do it myself!) Thanks in advance!

MAGIC! overtaking Cherly Cole :D Looks like it'll be a close battle for #1, unless one pulls out (one of them may as well release next week as the only competition they'll face will be Rixton who aren't doing as well on pre-orders)

how is Vandaag getting so high? It's only getting major airplay from Capital XTRA which surely doesn't have that much of an effect on the chart

I can't take that Rixton song seriously cos it is pretty much identical to this song from a few years ago:

It is a sample.

Surprised to see Always doing very little on pre-orders so far. When I first heard it I'd assumed it would be another easy 90s-house-esque No.1, especially with MK and Route 94 on board, who have both been involved with similar chart toppers recently. Maybe the bubble is starting to burst? I don't see what's so inferior about it to something like I Wanna Feel.

I think we're starting to get past the stage where any house song can go top 3 if it gets the push. The domination was never going to last forever, although I imagine we'll still get a few more hits from the genre especially if they're commercialised like Rather Be/I Got U/Waves. Always doesn't sound like a huge smash to me, it'll probably go low top 10 with a swift exit from the chart.

Is 'Left Hand Free' by alt-j a chart-ineligible instant grat? (Need to know for summary for SCP thread!)

Yes. 'Hunger of the Pine' is the eligible one.

Lovely! Thanks. Hoping it can chart somewhere in he top 75 come Sunday. Great song!
