Was expecting to see UJ higher with multiple versions, pre orders, physicals etc, - Would be great for them to get their first Top 5 but streaming will hammer them.

I was expecting them to be 2/3 in today's midweeks, regardless of the fact they have no chance of staying there whatsoever.

Agreed especially with streaming, I think they're going to need to be lucky to stay top 10 tbh

Streaming might cost her, she'll definitely get to #1 on itunes and hopefully hold it but annoyingly Shake It Off isn't on Spotify yet :/ and even if it was, streaming takes time to build up. They've handled everything else so well with this release though so it'll be added today fingers crossed!

 

It probably won't be added for a while as I'm sure I remember reading recently that Taylor isn't a fan of streaming, so maybe it's her choice not to put it on Spotify for the moment.

 

I've just found the article here where she says that she thinks streaming (amongst other things) is affecting "paid album sales".

I thought she would at least put the single on spotify though to help it get a high chart peak. I think it'll be put up soon anyway

 

With the Red era WANEGBT was put up as a single, then the rest of the album was added months after it was released and sold lots. I assume this will happen with 1989 too

12k for The Courteeners already? That's impressive because a) I didn't realise they even had an album out, and b) I don't even think their last album sold that much over the entire week (unless I'm very much mistaken).

Will be interesting to see if the UJ single can hold onto a Top 5 place as they really are going all out - The tripled the amount of fans allowed into the HMV signing, They are releasing a 3rd 'exclusive' version tonight which is part of a bundle [Physical and 4 downloads] which they have reduced to £3.49 to encourage fans to buy which in turn will lead to 5 sales as the MP3s each have to be downloaded individually.

 

The downside is the single will plummet next week - Id much rather them work on getting a real hit than having a 5 week chart run.

Highly unlikely, they are down to 11 on iTunes right now and can only see dropping throughout the week unless any promo can propel them back up. I predict they will replica what Rizzle Kicks did last week and finish the week around top 15/20.
