Perhaps the last song to feature in the countdown that really mustered up a discrepancy in the voting stats, as it got some very low scores and a heap of very high (without the -1, it would have been a position higher). Love it or hate it, 'Beautiful Stranger', is in your top 12! Written for the soundtrack to 'Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me', and featuring said star in the music video, the song went on to be yet another hugely successful movie song for Madge as it not only became a commercial success, it also won a Grammy for Best Song Written for a Movie Soundtrack. The song interestingly became a huge hit in the UK both in terms of its chart position but also on radio, as it became one of the most played songs on UK radio ever. I can't say i hear it too much now and it's not one of my favourites, but it's certainly remembered fondly by most. Returning to work with William Orbit who helped shape her 'Ray Of Light' album, this time they departed from that sound and created a more uplifting dance-pop vibe which went perfectly with the movie it was written for.

An all-time classic, my second favourite Madonna song and so many memories. :wub:

Love Beautiful Stranger, such a brilliant song, still hard to believe that this was held of the #1 spot by S Club 7, but oh well, classic Madonna single and a well deserved position, such true brilliance.

'Beautiful Stranger' actually, genuinely makes me want to vomit everytime I hear it. Horrific.

Beautiful Stranger is pretty good but not one I go back to very often, I certainly wouldn't have it this high above tracks like American Pie, Like A Virgin and Miles Away.

Beautiful Stranger is a classic of course. Only Madge could casually knock out something so free of flaw for a soundtrack and not even bother including it on a studio album.

The Spy Who Shagged Me is still one of my favourite films ever and I own the soundtrack. That song is the absolute highlight, killer pop song.

'Beautiful Stranger' is nothing short of pop gold, so I'm pretty amazed and saddened it could be given a -1!! :(

Thank God he stayed clear of 'Ray of Light'! And I suppose at least 'Beautiful Stranger' hasn't only missed out on a Top 10 placing because of the -1.

Yep. Think I actually ended up giving 'Ray of Light' a 3 in the end! Still crap, but wasn't as bad as I remembered it being. Just so shrilly and nasally for me. This is about as "on board" with it as I can get! :(
