Looks like a healthy week for top 5 album sales. Wasn't expecting Royal Blood to be off to such a strong start and on course for the #1 so convincingly. I'd imagine Ariana will be quite front-loaded and will most likely be overtaken by Ed and possibly Collabro. Still, in a day she's almost doubled the first week sales of her previous album, released less than a year ago. Great to see an artist like her having such a marked upward sales trajectory.

Maroon 5's 'Animals' is certainly not meant to be there - these errors are normally fixed by the Weds update.

Not that surprised at Royal Blood being comfortably #1, I thought everyone else here was majorly underpredicting it - could only see it missing #1 if Collabro's sales magically held up amazingly which they clearly aren't.

oops I missed a few album climbers out. Mainly in the top 10, but the Saturdays are definitely out
bought Royal Blood yesterday, could be one of the best No1 albums in a while if it's keeps where it is :)

And finally Union J's single is out of the 40 :o ha

Anyone wondering what that mess of an album at #28 is, it's a new solo project by former My Chemical Romance member Frank Iero.

And the Avenged Sevenfold entry is a re-release of their 2nd album from 2003 which never previously charted.

Shocked at those sales for Royal Blood! :o Even Ariana's are much better than I thought. Seems we'll have some healthy sales as far as the Top 5 is concerned.

Thrilled to see Iggy Azalea's album back in the Top 10, even if it may slip out before Sunday, and those Kate Bush appearances are very welcome!

Iggy's album has 96% digital sales, which leads me to assume it's the Google Play/Amazon 99p album this week?

It was over the weekend, yes.

The album chart is very mmmmmm..... heavy metal (ish)/Emo, Opeth, Amy Lee, not sure about the The Wytches need to oogle them, and that #28 album
Absolutely over the moon for Royal Blood, a real quality rock album. Shame Ariana can't be #1 too though

Tuesday Update Top 40 Only

Albums

1 Royal Blood - Royal Blood (27.7k) *

How on earth is this doing so well - they have virtually no singles form at all... :o

Big radio 1 support, and artists like this often sell more with albums than singles.

I'd say Royal Blood have done extremely well on the singles chart for the type of act they are. But nonetheless it was obvious that they would be more of an albums band and they have had a lot of hype all year (Sound of 2014 etc.) and massive R1 support.

Yes very happy at Royal Blood - i thought they could be big but it was tempered by people playing them down on here which made me think they could be one of those fanbase 18k selling albums but 27k in the first update is brillant - should do 50k at the very least!!!!

Collabro and Ed should also be decent sellers alongside Ariana!

Can anyone confirm if Break Free is eligible to chart this week then?

There's a report on the Official Charts website which shows the positions for Kate Bush's album in the Top 100 Tuesday Update:

11 Kate Bush albums set to enter the Official Albums Chart Top 100 ahead of first live shows in 35 years

26/08/2014

By Rob Copsey

Kate Bush has seen a massive lift in sales this week with 11 of her albums appearing in the early midweek sales flash for the Official Albums Chart Top 100, as she prepares to kick off her first run of shows in 35 years.

As legendary singer Kate Bush gears up to play her first run of shows in 35 years in London tonight (August 26), OfficialCharts.com can reveal that early figures show all of her studio albums and greatest hits collection The Whole Story are set to re-enter the chart this week.

Her retrospective The Whole Story, which originally hit Number 1 upon its release in 1986, is currently Number 8 on the tally (a sales lift of 536% from the previous week), followed by 1985’s Hounds Of Love at Number 14.

Elsewhere, her 2011 LP 50 Words For Snow and her 1978 debut The Kick Inside are at 32 and 33 respectively, and 1989’s The Sensual World is up 52 places at Number 41. The full list of Kate's entries for the early midweek sales flash appear below:

Meanwhile, her highest charting single to date and only UK Number 1 is Wuthering Heights, which spent four weeks at the top in 1978.

To date, Kate has spent a total of six weeks at Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart across four of her records; Never For Ever (1980), Hounds Of Love (1985), The Whole Story (1986) and Made Of Bricks (2007).

The news comes after Kate also saw a sales boost following the announcement of the tour back in March this year, where her most recent revelease, 50 Words Of Snow, saw the biggest uplift of 810%. The album has sold 155,000 copies to date in the UK.

Kate kicks off her run of 22 shows at London’s Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith tonight (August 26) and wraps up on Wednesday, October 1. Click here to see the full list of dates.
