Not sure about all the rolling eyes about 'Say Something' being performed again and inevitably climbing - considering the type of song it is, it didn't really spend long in the Top 40 so it's hasn't really outstayed its welcome or is really overplayed. Unless people just find the song 'boring' and wish to never see it back in the chart again (how you could possibly not like the song in the first place...but that's a different matter!).

Really hoping 'I Look to You' can make some impact on iTunes thanks to X Factor. Gorgeous song, perhaps my favourite by Whitney.

Can we not have another situation where a song gets used a lot on the show and then becomes the winners single? :( You'd think they would have learnt from the underperformance of Cannonball and Skyscraper?

I Look To You would make a decent winners single actually, as that song wasn't originally a big hit and it sounds very X Factorry.

Of course the best idea would be actually writing an original song for the winner (and preferably one that doesn't sound like every other XF winners single), but that won't happen.

I'm still gunning for this to be a winner's single...

Agreed, the main thing is that it has that pause just before the final choruses, which would give space for the winner announcement in the winner's song music video.

Plus if it means the original gets a massive boost in the charts, I'm all for it! :D

I Look To You lyrically suits an XF winner a lot more I think! I agree the best case scenario would be an original song, preferably a contemporary sounding one like Dami Im's Alive or Samantha Jade's What You've Done To Me from Aussie X-Facfor, on there each finalist gets an original song written for them which is along the lines of their performances on the show and/or what music they would later release.
Yeah my iTunes feed seems to have frozen too as 'Say Something' has been at #73 since before X Factor.

Sir Newman has crashed iTunes :o etc.

Glad it's not just mine that's frozen, from the pace Blame was gaining at, I kept checking back to see if it was #1 yet... but then I noticed nothing else was moving.

More likely 5SOS having a major boost from Strictly to over throw Calvin and Ten Walls :magic:

Here was me thinking the likes of fresh, new music like Happy, All of Me, and Ghost hadn't had any effect from the X-Factor. Silly me
It's finally updated with 'Blame' at #1 and 'Say Something' at #15.

John Newman #1 :w00t:

that would be his third itunes #1 now! (twice solo, the other with Rudimental)

(on a serious note, lol @ Say Something's boost, and YAY for Ten Walls still edging ahead of Taylor *.*)

That Say Something song is annoyingly depressive, I used to always hear it at 6AM when my radio alarm went off during the dark cold days of winter :drama:

1. Calvin Harris - Blame (feat. John Newman)

3. Ten Walls - Walking With Elephants

6. Chris Brown - New Flame (feat. Usher & Rick Ross)

15. A Great Big World & Christina Aguilera - Say Something [+85+106+217+421+606]

39. Sam Redden - Say Something I'm Giving Up on You [+246]

53. 5 Seconds of Summer - Amnesia [album version #27]

56. Bastille - bad_news

60. Calvin Harris - C.U.B.A

69. Adele - One and Only

169. Smokey Robinson & Imelda May - Get Ready

Not really any effect for Amnesia :o

You're saying their fans forgot to buy it? :P

Neither made the Radio 1 playlist, which is the usual barometer for whether a song makes the top 40 or not. Not many of their radio plays on the station happened outside the chart show.

Sorry, didn't get a chance to post yesterday but what I meant was that calling Train "largely" ignored by Radio 1 is a massive understatement. I still quibble with the idea of that keeping them from the Top 40 though as they get plenty of play elsewhere.

Yes for Calvin and Ten Walls! Great result and if that is this weeks top 3 it will be the best one of 2014, with 3 massive dance tracks thrashing the competition :)

That Chris Brown track is vile...hope streaming means this will miss the top 10 :puke: if GRL can't get a top 10 with a great track than this should miss aswell
