September 9, 201411 yr I wasn't expecting 5sos that high to be honest. Loads of new album releases in the top end of the top 40 chart but that's pretty normal on a Tuesday update, probably lose a few by tomorrow
September 9, 201411 yr Very happy to see Calvin has got a good lead head of Ten Walls and more importantly Lily Wood. :cheer: Good to see Train just get into the Top 40, but sadly they will drop out tomorrow. :(
September 9, 201411 yr What is going on with A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera? X-Factor. :cheer: Performed twice!
September 9, 201411 yr It won't be enough for blame... It's falling... 5% less from this morning... And streaming will be hard to hundle also, but number 2 again I guess is not bad...
September 9, 201411 yr What is going on with A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera? Calvin Harris is very much on course for another number 1 hit with the sales margins and i would believe streaming would be in his favour. 5 Seconds of Summer are guaranteed a top 10 hit now, that is looking at it from a conservative point of view where the sales will fall away for them, amnesia must surely have over 30,000 sales built up prior to this week????that will help them achieve overall decent sales for the single. Wonderful that Train are top 40 but i am not fooled into believing they will stay there  Like Train, its a lovely start in the album chart for Deacon Blue, i will think in a positive manner that they can achieve a top 20 album. The Kooks, what has gone wrong here??? unlike many other bands of their era they have recently managed 2 top 40 hits which is good considering how bands fail to chart so i fully expected a much higher debut, it is a near certainty that they will miss the top 10 now  Sam Smith could potentially block Robert Plant from number 1. I find it strange that they managed 2 top 40 hits mainly due to radio 1 playlisting but the pre album single was given no support? Hope they make the top 10. Hope Train stay in there tomorrow so it gets a spin on the chart update. Not sure if an 8k lead will be enough for Calvin? Unless he extends his lead through the week which is more likely with a non held back release! 5 Seconds are very high but they did have 6 versions in the top 200 at the start of the week! September 9, 201411 yr Wasn't expecting 'Say Something' to get THAT much of a boost :o I hope 5SOS enjoy their 5 seconds at Number 3. I expect them to chart around #9 on Sunday.
September 9, 201411 yr Ten Walls at #2, what an achievement :cheer: I predict it'll be around #8 by Sunday (which is still fantastic, there's really only so much a song like that can do in the charts) why the shock at 5SOS? boybands ALWAYS get a huge boost from physicals/EP sales
September 9, 201411 yr YASS at 5SOS, I knew they could manage a Top Ten out of this, fully deserved as well, but... :( :( :( at Jhené not even being Top 40 in the first update - BRILLIANT album.
September 9, 201411 yr btw, Ten Walls was at #184 in the top 200s on SundayDo you know if/where Sigma's Changing was, since it was higher than Ten Walls on streaming (#62 against #98)?
September 9, 201411 yr Very shocked but delighted at 5SOS. They only have one physical this time compared to two for previous releases, and my HMV isn't stocking it unlike for the others, so that makes that mids figure even more impressive, hope it can keep top 10.
September 9, 201411 yr I'm used to boybands surprising me with how high they are in the first mids with their post-album singles on impact week so I was kind of expecting 'Amnesia' to not be far off #1. Certainly not surprised at all that it's in the top 3. It'll likely be out of the top 5 by Sunday but I don't see it missing the top 10 now. Not a bad showing (and not a bad song either). 'Blame' could hold onto #1 but with 'Prayer In C' already gaining again on iTunes and not really being THAT far behind it's by no means a certainty. Could be that 5th #2 for Calvin then ~ Ugh at 'Say Something', I suppose it's too much to ask for it to drop out again this week if it's as high as #10 today :( I really don't get how it's managed to make a bigger impact the second time when surely the viewing figures for the first episode would have been higher? Whateva ~ So many new entries in the albums chart this week, I'd better make sure I get the album chart prep done on time  Robert Plant won't hold onto #1 with that lead so it's looking like a 4th week for Sam Smith. Royal Blood still holding up very well! #9 is a bit disastrous for The Kooks, if The Courteeners of all people could go top 3 without a proper hit single The Kooks should be easily challenging for #1 with two top 40 hits behind them. M.A.D also seem pretty low for a fanbase act with 3 'hits', have they lost all of their relevance already?
September 9, 201411 yr A very odd first update I must say: 5 Seconds of Summer could well drop out of the T10 officially come Sunday and A Great Big World and Christina Aguilera should drop a good 20 places. Album chart wise, good to see Sam Smith looking very likely to spend another week at the top spot, I imagine all of those new entries will drop a couple of places. Disappointed to see The Kooks as low as #9 and Banks not even in the T15. While both have been building support, it just goes to show how the lack of a decent pre-album single can really damage the album's debut - The Kooks should have released after "Around Town" charted inside the T40 and Banks should have released months back!
September 9, 201411 yr Do you know if/where Sigma's Changing was, since it was higher than Ten Walls on streaming (#62 against #98)?Actually, I have a second question; though I'm a bit slow to notice, All About That Bass moved #53 to #32 on streaming with a #75 debut on the official chart, yet the week before, Duke Dumont was #169 officially with a #76 streaming placement. Was there some sort of error preventing AATB from charting, while another streaming-only song placed lower on streaming did chart? (I don't think it's that Duke had non-iTunes sales since Ten Walls has also charted #184 with #98 on streaming, and similarly Jess Glynne #200 with #84, Charli XCX #158 with #74, Lilly Wood #170 with #76 and Wankelmut #190 with #88.) Or am I wrong in some way?
September 9, 201411 yr What a ghastly update. Yes Calvin & Ten Walls at the top but that was entirely expected. Huge rises for 5SOS, AGBW & Chris Brown's new one in the top 10 is very unwelcome. Let's hope streaming sorts this all out come Sunday! May I ask where Duke has fallen to? *braces self* Edited September 9, 201411 yr by Dobbo
