I pre-order "Blame" by Calvin Harris without having heard it. Guess you just know you'll like the music released from some artists regardless. I've only done it this one time though.

With Calvin it's a bit more understandable as you got another track free with it which you could hear.

Had people heard SLSP though? I find it odd that a single would get any pre-orders at all without people having heard it!

Believe it or not, but people actually pre-order the X Factor Winners song every year before we even know what the song is or who has won the competition! That is worse than pre-ordering the new single from an artist or band that you like. I never pre-order stuff anyway, I just buy it when it comes out.

It's possible they could miss #1, it's happened a few times before.

Fingers crossed but I think they will benefit from streaming as they have a big online fan base so sadly I think this is a guaranteed number one :(

God I hope something amazing comes out that week to beat them I don't think I've hated anything/one more than Simon Cowell for creating this monster......

Anyway, lets just focus on this week and the anazingness that is Queen Paloma getting to number one

126. Waze & Odyssey & R. Kelly - Bump & Grind 2014 (Waze & Odyssey vs. R. Kelly) [Radio Edit] (Pre-Order)

This was the track of the day on Radio 1 today. How well did R Kelly's version do?

No sign of Firestarter in the top 1500 yet after Alfie Moon lit a spliff and threw it in a bin to burn down his house in Eastenders.

R Kelly - Bump 'n' Grind - (9 Weeks) 21/01/1995 -10-{8}-14-12-17-19-29-49-64

Surprised that only got TOTD now, it's been on the pre-order updates for so long.

You might be right about streaming. Maybe their record label will get it on the front page on Spotify on release week so it shoots up the streaming chart fast like Calvin Harris did last week.

However, I think One Direction fans will mostly listen to the song on Youtube (which doesn't count towards the chart). I read a study done recently that was talking about the way different demographics consume music and it said young people's main source of music is Youtube, and One Direction probably have one of the youngest fanbases out there.

148. Vance Joy - First Time - Shame they'll end up being a one hit wonder :(

67. Train - Angel In Blue Jeans - I was hoping with the album being out this week, it's album version would help it into the Top 40, but looks like it's not meant to be. :(

63. Gorgan City feat. Katy Menditta - Imagination - Instant Grat

But One Direction also have the sort of fanbase who would do anything to help them in the charts, so would stream it too.

Hozier has a 2nd version of "Take Me To Church" at 191. Could make it top 40 this week, something that Paolo unfortunetly couldn't do :(
5Sos had toured before 'She Looks So Perfect' was released though, so I presume they'd performed the song even if their fans hadn't heard the studio version of the track.
Unless theres some big on air-on sale release(rihanna,Adele),on the 12th of October I can't see 1D missing number 1..they will surely beat the Vamps and Eminem..

They were only the support act for OneDirection (ironically) though, iirc! (Could be wrong though)

I heard Pharrell Williams - Gust Of Wind on Radio 1 at 21:55-ish tonight. Is that his new single? If so, ABOUT DAMN TIME! A superior version of 'Get Lucky' imo.

I don't think it was ironic at all that 5Sos were supporting 1D, it's a big promotional advantage they may have paid for. Presumably they played their big songs though.
Bailando was supposed to be on pre-order for next Sunday... why release it now?
Was it not on Sex & Love?
The Spanish version is, but not the English version.

I've heard Gust of Wind on the radio a few times ever since album release (also Brand New), so I don't know. Capital is the only station that never plays album tracks, but Radio 1 do sometimes. It's a good sign nonetheless!
