The band consists of vocalist/guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, guitarist Joe Trohman, and drummer Andy Hurley. The band originated from Chicago's hardcore punk scene, with which Wentz was heavily involved. The group was formed by Wentz and Trohman as a pop punk side project of their respective hardcore bands, and Stump joined shortly thereafter. The group went through a succession of drummers before landing Hurley and recording their debut album, Take This to Your Grave (2003), which became an underground success and helped the band gain a dedicated fanbase through heavy touring, as well as some moderate commercial success. With Wentz as the band's lyricist and Stump as the primary composer, the band's 2005 major-label breakthrough, From Under the Cork Tree, produced two hit singles, "Sugar, We're Goin Down" and "Dance, Dance", and went double platinum, transforming the group into superstars and making Wentz a celebrity and tabloid fixture. Fall Out Boy received a Best New Artist nomination at the 2006 Grammy Awards. Their 2007 follow-up, Infinity on High, landed at number one on the Billboard 200 with 260,000 first week sales. It produced several worldwide hit singles, "This Ain't a Scene, It's an Arms Race" and "Thnks fr th Mmrs". Folie à Deux, the band's fourth album, created a mixed response from fans and commercially undersold expectations. Following the release of Believers Never Die - Greatest Hits, the band took a hiatus from 2009 to 2012 to "decompress", exploring various side projects. They regrouped and recorded Save Rock and Roll (2013), which gave the band their second career number one and produced the top 20 single "My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark (Light Em Up)". While Fall Out Boy's music has been typically described as pop punk and pop rock, the band were generally seen in the mid-2000s at the forefront of the "emo pop" explosion. Take This to Your Grave has often been cited as a vital blueprint for pop punk music in the 2000s. - Wikipedia Chart history (Year peak title): 2006 08 Sugar, We're Goin' Down -1- 2006 08 Dance Dance -2- 2006 38 A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More Touch Me -3- 2007 02 This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race -1- 2007 12 Thnks Fr Th Mmrs -2- 2007 48 The Take Over, The Breaks Over -3- 2008 21 Beat It (Fall Out Boy Feat. September 14, 201412 yr Why whenever any given slow song comes up, there must be a commentary in this thread of how "boring" and "nauseating" it is? Not all songs can be midtempo or uptempo, you know. Edited September 14, 201412 yr by N-S
September 14, 201412 yr I like a lot of Fall Out Boy's stuff, but not this. So whiny it's unpleasant.
September 14, 201412 yr Fall Out Boy are a bit hit and miss with me (I find Pete's voice grating on the whole) but 'This Ain't a Scene..', 'Thnks Fr Th Mmrs' & 'My Songs Know What You Did in the Dark' are fantastic. This'll be my first listen of this.
September 14, 201412 yr I actually prefer their earlier material, its not that bad, its just pretty average.
September 14, 201412 yr Eh I'm not too keen on this so far. But I'm pretty sure I heard the melody of 'Tom's Diner' in there somewhere. *.*

September 14, 201412 yr Good to see Fall Out Boy get another Top 40 hit. The jury's still out on 'Centuries' for me though!

EDIT 2: I love Fall Out Boy and am glad to see they can still achieve hits but this song really doesn't do anything for me. :/ Edited September 14, 201412 yr by •CDC•
September 14, 201412 yr Why whenever any given slow song comes up, there must be a commentary in this thread of how "boring" and "nauseating" it is? Not all songs can be midtempo or uptempo, you know. There are also usually positive comments about such songs. BuzzJack is more than one person and people have different opinions. 'Centuries' is quite decent, Fall Out Boy by numbers really but that was only to be expected.
September 14, 201412 yr I quite like Centuries :kink: Yeah, me too! Not as good as 'My Songs...' but still pretty catchy, I like his voice too. Sad this got a midweek release becuse I higher peak would've been nice.
September 14, 201412 yr I actually like this a lot on first listen - heaps better than My Songs... which I never got into because of that non-event of a chorus. Sugar, We're Going Down and Dance Dance by FOB remain anthems.
September 14, 201412 yr Eh I'm not too keen on this so far. But I'm pretty sure I heard the melody of 'Tom's Diner' in there somewhere. *.* Was about to say exactly the same thing. Wouldn't surprise me if they have to give Suzanne Vega a share of the royalties. Quite low down despite being quite high on Itunes. Obviously they're not a very steam-friendly band.

September 14, 201412 yr Not the first time I've heard "Tom's Diner" sampled. "Ugly Heart" way too low. Especially considering its iTunes position. :(
September 14, 201412 yr Ugly Heart  One of the best songs in the chart. Still so so sad about Simone :(.
