ARTISTS OF THE YEAR: TAYLOR SWIFT

http://i58.tinypic.com/dr9oib.pnghttp://i62.tinypic.com/wbtpox.pnghttp://i59.tinypic.com/20r6wdw.png

And when Lana Del Rey is the least obvious of the 3 best artists of 2014, it was pretty obvious who the top 3 was going to consist of. So here is your 3rd and final best artist of 2014- Taylor Swift. Slaylor Swift's 5th studio album and first 'pop' album is possibly my favourite album by her ever [so hard to separate 1989 and Speak Now, which ones better. There's only 1 way to find out. FIIGHT  :kink:]. Red was amazing but 1989 is even better. This era started with the poptastic amazing song of Shake It Off which I listened to for 7 and a 1/2 hours continuously when released and have probably heard about over 1,000 times at least since. Highlights from Taylor this year includes the beautiful Wildest Dreams and Out Of The Woods as well as the 2nd single Blank Space which has a superb video.

If I was to choose Taylor's singles for this era, it would be:

X-Factor Final Performance [along with blank space]: Out Of The Woods [immediate itunes release, then added to radio's late December/ Early January]

Late February: All You Had To Do Was Stay [video premiering mid March]

Mid May: Bad Blood

Late July: Wildest Dreams

October: I Know Places

Anyway any track of the album can be a single [but I wish you would]

Taylor easily makes my 3rd best artist this year

Now onto videos and I will go back to breakthrough artists soon

Edited by Ultraviolence1989

Paloma or The Sats to get a mention please
Taylor slayed this year so I'm happy to see her high on your list ~

Songs That Won't Appear In The EOY Countdown But I Like Them

5 Seconds Of Summer- Don't Stop Definitely their best track and so catchy. Peaked at #24 [was #10 on Wednesday update]

Alicia Keys- It's On Again When the Kendrick part is gone, this is a really nice song. I also really like The Edge by Tonight Alive from The Amazing Spider Man 2. Peaked at #15 I think

Avicii Ft Robbie Williams- The Days Would have been top 10 if the single had been released, I really like Robbie's tracks and Avicii's production was great and his best piece of work since I Could Be The One

David Guetta Ft Sam Martin- Dangerous & Lovers On The Sun Both good dance tracks

Dolly Parton- Blue Smoke I love some country music and this was a great and really good track to listen to by Dolly. Peaked at 20]

Foxes- Let Go For Tonight This would have made my countdown if I was tracking sales before mid March but anyway it is a really good song but the latter 2 singles were way better. Peaked at #8

Gareth Malone's All Star Choir- Wake Me Up I did hate this but it is strangely starting to grow on me despite hating the original. Especially that chorus is beautiful

Hozier- Take Me To Church Really really good song and I am glad it has had a good amount of success

Kat Deluna- In The End/ Parra For Cuva- Swept Away My 2 BJSC entries that won't appear in my EOY countdown [hint: Marilyn will]. The former is terrible and peaked at #41 and the latter is better but still ok and just an average relaxing dance track and peaked at something terrible like #82  but it sold more than Kat

Parra For Cuva Ft Anna Nakleb- Wicked Games Nice relaxing dance song

Wanklemut Ft Emma Louise- My Head Is A Jungle Really like another dance song [Dan is probably liking this section quite a bit if he is reading]. Emma's vocals are amazing and the dance production is very good. Just missed my top 40 but peaked at #36 on one of my Wednesday updates in mid September

I will add more to this list if there are any other I can remember

Taylor is a very deserved 'artist of the year'! I wasn't really into her before 'We Are Never...' but I still didn't check out the 'Red' album despite liking most of the singles from it. I felt compelled to get '1989' though and it's such a brilliant album, probably my favourite of the year!

Oo, yay at Meghan Trainor being an artist to watch. Despite disliking All About That Bass now, she does have a great doo-wop sound going on and I hope Lips Are Movin is big in 2015 because it's fantastic. I'd love her album to perhaps sneak a week at #1 in Q1 on a quiet release week too. Hope 2015 is big for her worldwide anyway.

Idina really was fantastic in Frozen, Elsa was definitely the character I liked the most and I think Idina really has a lovely voice. Obviously, Let It Go is the best Frozen song but the reprise of For The First Time In Forever is absolutely excellent too. The same can't be said for the first version though.

I agree with Don't Stop being 5SOS best single, it reminds me a lot of a Busted single which were one of my favourit childhood bands so that's great.

Paloma just missed out on the artist mention and will probably get into one of the lists before the countdown

The Sats will very likely have to wait till EOY countdown

Taylor slayed this year so I'm happy to see her high on your list ~

Slaylor

That Foxes snub :drama:

But then she will have 2 more songs and album to look forward to on the EOY charts :)

I still adore AATB and definitely agree about LAM. Would definitely love the album to go 1, I really love Meghan

I adore the reprise of FTFTIF but the original is my 2nd favourite song from the movie. Idina was great and Elsa was also my favourite character

I quite liked Busted, I loved year 3000. Thinking about it now, don't stop does sound like a busted song

Thanks so so much for the comments CamdyCane, MathForChristmas, Jayeux Noël and Jsanta

'Don't Stop' and 'My Head is a Jungle' are two brilliant tracks! It's a shame they've missed out, but at least they got recognition.

Thanks Slade

I will add anaconda, pills n potions and nobody to love to the honroable mentions lists in about an hour along with another artist to look out for in 2015 and a couple of the best videos

Ten Walls hate *.* Walking With Elephants just sounds like five minutes of farting! Terrible even by deep house (or whatever awful dance sub-genre it is) standards.

Sheppard are great, Geronimo could/should be a massive hit in early 2015 <3

"Don't Stop"

A little optimistic on 1989 going 7 singles deep, are we? Merely saying this because either

a.) it will get a re-release soon or

b.) she'll release album 6 in the next year and a half

Artists To Watch In 2015: 3. Echosmith

Image Later

I first probably found out about Echosmith and Cool Kids by I don't know how :kink: but anyway I am glad I found it. The song is absolutely amazing and I adore the lyrics of this song. I know Cool Kids is out in 2014 but if all goes well, then this should be a long running hit and they will release a lot more material in the UK in 2015. Anyway I am going to videos for now and will be back at artists to watch in 2015 soon :)

Poor 5SOS :( 'Don't Stop' is actually my least favourite single though, so not too bad :kink:
Sheppard and now Echosmith :o Two of my favourite groups around atm  Hopefully big things on the way for both next year :cheer:

VIDEOS OF THE YEAR: 1. IGGY AZALEA FT CHARLI XCX- FANCY

It takes an absolutely exceptional video for me to change my opinion on a song but Fancy is one of those rare occasions when this has happened. It also helps that the video is based on Clueless which is in my top 5 favourite movies ever and the video successfully recreates some of the iconic scenes such as the highway and the party. The clothes are absolutely amazing in this and the song is also lush  This is probably in my 10 favourite music videos ever and my other favourite parts of the video include the tennis court scene [which is one of my favourite parts of the movie] and the beginning when Iggy is choosing her clothes. Taking Clueless as inspiration for a music video was one of the best ideas ever

VIDEOS OF THE YEAR: 2. TAYLOR SWIFT- SHAKE IT OFF

So surprisingly the top video of this year doesn't go to Taylor, Idina or Lana. However the former of those 3 makes 2nd place with another of my favourite videos ever [and the first music video I have bought on iTunes since the best video of all time- Telephone] in Shake It Off. Every single dancing style is amazing. I love the first one and it is a nice opening followed by a great street dancing part. I love the ballerina part [especially the backwards bunny hop], the scene where she turns as the chorus starts is just lush  and all the other styles in the 2nd verse are great. I also love the cheerleading part and when some of her fans are in the video at the end- that must have been such an amazing experience. The video flows perfectly and I just adore everything about it and it is very likely my favourite ever Taylor Swift video [this or you belong with me].

Anyway this leads to this question. Which is your favourite Shake It Off outfit?

Taylor really deserves artist of the year here. Especially with how loony you for over her :heehee: but she has had a phenomenal year and her new single is Just DIVINE!
