BMTH predictably now in dark red, they'll be down to #4 very soon - but it was amazing to see them at #1 while it lasted (and while it COUNTED for the "Big Top 40" :P) Here's hoping they can hang onto the top 10 for the week although I can see them finishing around #14 (which would still be a great result for them).

I know sales aren't amazing at the moment but that's insane, I wonder if they'll hold on

I don't think they will with Ed performing tomorrow night and Thursday or Band Aid 30 getting there, hopefully they get a top 10 hit just about, but I can see it dropping to around #11 to #15.

Never really saw this coming to be honest its a decent track, I've heard better from them.

They will be eligible after next weekend, so Fleur will most likely be in the Top 5 over xmas and new year with 'Uptown Funk'.

What a completely bizarre situation

Will they? They've never been made chart eligible before after the show ends :P They get taken down early new year anyway.

Will they? since when?

Why are X-Factor allowed to rig the charts by declaring the performances ineligible anyway?

They seem to want their cake and eat it by getting people to buy them but not letting them appear in the charts

Will they? They've never been made chart eligible before after the show ends :P They get taken down early new year anyway.

Didn't they used to all let all the songs chart after the final? Or am I thinking of American Idol and US X-Factor.

I guarantee Fleur will be performing it again next weekend, so she'll be in the iTunes Top 5 over xmas and new year. Most people see that as the real chart - if you don't listen to Radio 1, the official chart means very little to you.

I wonder how many sales Mark Ronson will lose to this version?

While they didn't need permission to cover the track they DID need permission to perform it on TV, so what has Simon Cowell promised Mark Ronson

Is this the first that an X-Factor contestant has sung a yet to be released song?

No, Cher Lloyd was in a similar situation with "Cooler Than Me" a few years back. Saying that, it wasn't half the situation we're in now, where an ineligible chart is selling on iTunes what the unreleased original would possibly be selling if it had been released already.

If she goes on to win and they make it eligible next week, it could very well.

Only just caught up with today's events, WT actual F at Bring Me The Horizon going to #1? :o :o :o definitely the most unexpected iTunes #1 of the year!!

Nope they never let any songs chart after the final! Although in previous years they've never let them appear on the iTunes feed at all so you never know.

Fleur #1 combined :o And that's just with a performance from the show. I imagine if she wins her single will get a James Arthur/Band Aid 30 style lead and sell far more than Sam Bailey
Not difficult when the #1 on iTunes is barely selling 5K/day.

It's still selling more than anything else on the biggest download site. That's an achievement no matter what.

'Cooler Than Me' was available to download after Cher's performance of it. Hence its entry into the top 40 in its chart run. I believe. I think it took a few weeks after for it to peak in the top 3 (?) Though.

Bring Me The Horizon selling over 5k in a day (even including pre-orders) is still something of a shock though surely :P Of course they wouldn't have come close to achieving this if sales were higher but that doesn't mean it's not an enormous achievement for them.

And they actually must have sold quite a respectable number of sales even aside from their pre-orders as they 'only' debuted at #4 but went on to hit #1 with a non-negligible lead.

I was actually referring to Thermo's post about 'outselling the #2 by 12/13 times'.

Ah, well that's slightly more understandable :kink:
