Biography

Edward Christopher "Ed" Sheeran (born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter. Raised in Framlingham, Suffolk, he moved to London in 2008 to pursue a musical career. In early 2011, Sheeran released an independent extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project, which caught the attention of both Elton John and Jamie Foxx. He then signed to Asylum Records. His 2011 debut album, +, containing the singles "The A Team" and "Lego House", was certified quintuple platinum in the United Kingdom. In 2012, he won two BRIT Awards for Best British Male and British Breakthrough. "The A Team" won the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically.

 

Sheeran began to be known in the United States in 2012. He made a guest appearance on Taylor Swift's fourth studio album, Red, and wrote songs for One Direction. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards and he performed the song in duet with Elton John during the ceremony. He spent much of 2013 touring North America as the opening act for Taylor Swift's Red Tour. His second studio album is titled x, read as "multiply", and is scheduled for worldwide release on 23 June 2014. He was nominated for Best New Artist at the 56th Annual Grammy Awards. - Wikipedia

Biography

Mark Daniel Ronson (born 4 September 1975) is an English musician, DJ, singer and music producer.

 

While his debut album Here Comes the Fuzz failed to make an impact on the charts, his second album, Version, included three top-10 hits and won Ronson a Brit Award for British Male Solo Artist in 2008. His third studio album, Record Collection, was released on 27 September 2010.

I think that would get an even worse backlash than this one! Maybe something for the 50th anniversary but he'd definitely need to change it up and put quite a bit more effort in.

Decent enough for Band Aid but Asda must be gutted that they paid upfront for 250k physicals, when it must have only sold around 60k this week perhaps (presumably only a proportion of those from Asda!)

 

It's not the first time a supermarket did a similarly unwise investment, didn't Tesco press something like 300,000 copies of Nadine's album only to sell 15k of it? :lol:

It may not be performing as well as their last 3 albums but to say it's flopping is a bit of an exaggeration - no.1 album, 3rd highest selling album of the year (over 200k sold in 2 weeks) and a number 1 single from it. Doesn't sound like a flop to me

Just shows that premiering a song then not releasing it for 2/3 months is utterly asanine & a hinderance to its sales 90% of the time so at least the record label made the correct decision this time.

 

Oh and joy, we're gonna have to get used to another FIRST EVER NUMBER 1 EVER for weeks to come!
