I just love Rihanna, no promotion, staggered release (Itunes weeks before streaming) not held back and it will still be one of the biggest hits of the year.

That she is managing to do it with such a drab song indicates that a proper massive pop tune would have blow Ellie away.

Perhaps Rihanna is fed up with pop :(

People are probably lapping it up due to the fact it's the first New Rihanna song in ages. But I guess it's climb to number 1 suggests that people are actually liking the song and enjoy listening to it. It's always making it's way up in my affections anyway. The more I hear it, the more I just want it on repeat.
'Towards The Sun' is the more instant Rihanna song for me and when I first heard it I though that was going to be the big hit and challenge for #1 in the next few weeks but at the moment it looks like it's going to get completely overshadowed by 'FourFiveSeconds', no-one's even talking about 'Towards The Sun'.

I think Four Five Seconds is a great song, it isn't instantly catchy but has more than enough hooks to worm their way into your ear once you've heard it a few times.

She is in a great position right now, first single looking like it will have longevity and if the 2nd single that leads the album is the usual Rihanna stomper then I can see another massive era for her.

FourFiveSeconds is really good imo and very different for her, plus it's her comeback - no surprise it's doing so well really.

I can't see the Home soundtrack RiRi singles doing too well especially as 45S is still getting a big push

Yeah. I'm all for trying new things, I just don't seem to like this.
FourFiveSeconds only clicked for me when I saw the Grammys performance.
FourFiveSeconds is a mess, I just hope it doesn't climb to #1 on a low sales week.

I think her and her people will ignore towards the sun and the home soundtrack. It was supposed to come out last year which would have fitted nicely tiding people over but it only being a soundtrack so keeping people hungry for more. It coming out now in the middle of her new album is probably not what she wanted.

But they must be pushing it if they've sent it to radio, and Radio 1 have already play listed it? It does seem like a bit of a mess tbh.
Yeh the radio 1 play listing is strange - I can only assume they'll remove it or 45S in the coming weeks.

Years & Years 'King' is #53 and Alex Adair 'Make Me Feel Better' is #101 :cheer: good starts for both!
I'm able to play King on Spotify! (and so have some of my friends)
How odd! I'm able to play the three remixes but when the original is so good, I don't want to listen to them!

Seems similar to an issue with Heartbeat Song last week, it was showing up in grey for me and was around 50 on the spotify chart, this week it's now showing in white and leapt up to number 15

Did you download it from iTunes? Apparantley deleting it from your iTunes fixes it (I had the same issue last week with "Hearbeat Song"). I assume it's a plan from Apple to make people stream from iTunes rather than Spotify when they release their streaming services.

'Towards the Sun' is not yet a Rihanna "single". It's a soundtrack song which happens to be by Rihanna. I'll be very surprised if it is classed as an "official" single to be used as a song to help launch her official album.
