I find it by far Duke's worst effort, it just doesn't seem to go anywhere and is so monotonous.

It is definitely so far below the other three, but it has grown a bit. I just wish it wasn't so repetitive.

I do like Duke Dumont, but his singles are all repetitive to a degree - I personally think I Got U is just as repetitive as The Giver. Could say the same about Need U, but that was brilliant enough to rise above that and was so fresh when it was released.

Obviously the deep house phase of chart music has receded now and he could have released something new this time. However, The Giver was a fans favourite before he became mainstream so maybe this release is more for the fans than a serious follow-up to his chart toppers?

'The Giver (Reprise)' is basically just a bland retread of 'Need U (100%)', not at all surprised at it underperforming. Also isn't it a really old song anyway?

'House Every Weekend' is great but doesn't sound at all like a #1 to me, would love for it to get there but I feel like it'll end up stalling behind Lost Frequencies and/or other new releases (most likely 'Shine') despite its current pre-order success. I suppose it being released on the short chart week will help its chances of getting #1.

Rita Ora is released as soon as next week? Surprised her pre-order hasn't taken off more, I guess this will be her first pre-album single to miss #1 then (I hope so anyway as it is awful and I say this as someone who liked all of her previous #1s).

yep, it was originally released in late 2012, nearly 3 years ago now. Although this new mix has additional vocals it isn't very different to the original. I never expected it to be a big chart smash anyway, if it charts in the top 40 I would call that a success.

Yeah it was on his 'FOR CLUB PLAY ONLY, PT.2' EP which was released in September 2012 ~ so it's basically a club track that's been promoted to a single by public demand rather than something specifically developed for chart domination~

How come so many dance records become successful two or three years after their original release? Obviously because of a re-release with vocals, but why so long after the original; why not release the instrumental and vocal edit at the same time? Surely that'd make them more successful?

It's so much better than her two 2012 #1s to me (which were both dire :puke: )

206. Amy Winehouse - Tears Dry On Their Own

A performance was shown at the end of The One Show (presumably they were discussing the new Amy documentary-film). Me and my mum got a bit of a shock to see when we turned over for Eastenders!). Not sure if any of her other songs were used, but also in the chart is:

310. Back to Black

617. Valerie

677. Rehab

1375. Love is a Losing Game

^Might be due to the 20 minute BBC iPlayer exclusive of unseen interviews and performances too.

I don't think Duke Dumont had chart success on his mind when he made and released 'The Giver' back in 2012. Only now that he's a big name does he have the chance to give it a new mix and commercial push.

As for why he's basically re-releasing 'The Giver' as his current single I don't know, I'm sure a brand new single from him would have done better.

'The Giver (Reprise)' deserves to do far better than this. It is his best single along with 'Need U (100%)'. Even the original without the amazing verses deserves to smash. It brings back amazing memories of clubbing in 2012/2013. I really thought TG would be Duke's third #1.

The single version is dropping and is currently at #28.

100% support this. Didn't think it'd be #1 though, songs like this would have been better off released June 2014.

Agree with this statement (minus the 'bland' part), ever since my first listen I've heard 'Need U (100%)' in the verses. I'd actually say I prefer 'The Giver''s instrumental, marginally. I did think it'd be a Top 10 hit initially, but as the release drew nearer, it was obvious that wasn't to be...

Kodaline seem to have shot up with both The One and All I Want - anyone know any reason for these?

'Sparks' was used at the start of Big Brother yesterday (or the day before - can't remember - I watched them both last night lol).

No it wasn't? Yesterday was "Ghost Town" and the day before was some other random song.

Are you sure?! :o There was one with very similar whistle sounds and I was trying to rack my head around what it was as I knew I liked it! (It was probably 'Ghost Town' now you mention it! Haha. Oops.)

It's very rare for lots of songs from NOW spin-offs to be cherry-picked but a lot of songs are being cherry-picked from NOW Summer Party and here they are:

54. OMI - Cheerleader

86. Major Lazer & DJ Snake featuring MØ - Lean On

137. Jess Glynne - Hold My Hand

153. Nico & Vinz - Am I Wrong

167. Mark Ronson featuring Bruno Mars - Uptown Funk

168. Maroon 5 - Sugar
