The new photos and no doubt the Grey report will confirm all of our suspicions that Johnson has been deceitful all along and his behaviour was very much part of the culture of covid rule breaking in government.
I really don't see how he can stay given the current findings/photos and with Sue Grey's report likely going to be a slaughterhouse. I really hope there's a vote of no confidence but I'm not holding my breath.

Problem is, the delay plan has worked. People aren’t nearly as disgusted as they should be. He will be able to cling on no matter what now.

The report looks very damning - obviously Starmer loses a bit of credibility with his current investigation (although he's very confident he won't be fined). Think we will see how the backbenchers react. I do agree the public have probably moved on a little from when the story broke, but this mixed with the cost of living crisis is bad for longer term Tories.

I was in the Question Time panel in Liverpool last week and there was still a lot of anger towards the government about Partygate from others. While some people may have moved on, there are others who still feel very strongly about this issue particularly people who have lost close friends and relatives during covid. I don’t think the issue is going to go away completely and it has certainly damaged Johnson and the governments reputation but whether it is enough to oust him is another thing. The problem is there are a number of other really pressing issues going on right now such as the cost of living crisis and Ukraine which Johnson and his cronies will use as a justification to keep him in post. There is also no obvious other contender for pm. However, it shouldn’t be about this as clearly this is a scandal of some proportions and sends out the message one rule for them and one for us with no real consequences for those in government who break the rules.

Why have they blurred out the entire bodies of people at the gatherings rather than just their faces? Just mad.

That just goes to show how pissed they were. They were left as a complete blur.

People who aren’t angry at party gate are the sort of scum who would break the rules themselves so they think that would have been normal behaviour and actually look up to the PM for doing it.

Johnson leading by example. The example being lying is perfectly acceptable, and Tories believe that there should be one rule for the elite making sure the rich stay powerful in order to to keep the plebs in their place, and f*** them if they die as a result of their policies. As he showed when he spread Covid round a hospital shortly before praising the NHS with some clapping for helping to save his life after being a complete knob about it. The NHS, by the way, I can vouch is still hugely underfunded and overworked and people are still dying because they don't get the urgent attention they need.

He didn't just magically appear as leader of the UK, though, people who believe as he believes, or are gullible idiots, put him there. I suggest shutting anyone attempting to defend the indefensible gets put in their place immediately with some choice reminders that his staff were vomiting from all-night parties and laughing at the plebs cleaning up their mess on low wages while doing it. The Tory right-wing press are trying to deny this by focusing on M&S sandwiches and trying to equate it to a Korma in between work appointments. It's not the same. And when my colleagues left during Lockdown, we, as employees of local government, were working from home as instructed and we had no leaving do's for long-time colleagues who'd spent a lifetime in local government. One rule for some, one rule for everyone else.

Elitist liars, all of 'em, and at the next General Election this needs to be brought up incessantly, on top of all their failed promises for Brexit and the economy. The world might be suffering, but the UK is suffering worse than our equivalents.

What’s worse for me, is then holding back cost of living help until today to try and bury the story which of course their minions at the Tory rags and the BBC will absolutely do

The worst thing for me is the report talking to the way they treat security and cleaning staff.

I also get annoyed that when we have high inflation and the economy is generally f***ed at present (for nearly every country it’s beats reminding) that the tories and the press get away with saying it’s happening everywhere with no seeming annoyance from anyone about this but when Labour are in power and there’s a economic crisis it’s ALWAYS labours fault for spending too much. And the media compliantly repeat this nonsense such as in the 2008-2014 period.

not to mention the "alcoholism". How many of us haven't got blind drunk till 4 in the morning while our boss was upstairs in his sound-proof flat after a work meeting while still on the work premises?!

Oh that's right, NONE OF US!

No wonder they were so f***ing useless making decisions about everything till they were forced to. And still are.

So the Tories are trying to appeal to their regressive Brexit base by the Attorney General, the goddawful, barely qualified Suella Braverman trying to stir up transphobia in the education sector https://www.pinknews.co.uk/2022/05/28/attor...-trans-schools/ and then by showing how forward thinking and modern a country we are, they are saying that things can be sold now purely in imperial https://twitter.com/PippaCrerar/status/1530569025390092288

Hmm, quite a few Tory MPs going publically against Johnson over last few days including several from 'Blue Wall' southern Remain seats. Will they get that magic 54 figure soon? At least his authority is wavering day by day....

Nadine Dorries trying to distort reality again claiming crowd were cheering Johnson as he arrived to the posh do. Trolled immediately by The Times, CBS and others with footage showing the real "Bring Your Own Boos" party the public were clearly inspired by the PM to do. Attempting to blame the corrupt media (The Times) to deflect that the public (Monarchy supporters) were prob a bit pissed that the Tories were partying it up on the eve of Prince Philips funeral, while the Queen stuck by the rules that the Tories had imposed.

Lying just really is second nature to them. It's like breathing. They do both without any sense of awareness.

The government has launched its consultation on a return to imperial measurements. The document (published yesterday, a Bank Holiday) contains a pack of lies. It says we went metric in the 1990s. The process started in the 1960s. It asks consumers whether they want measurements solely in imperial units or imperial with a metric equivalent displayed. Metric only or predominantly metric are not offered as options. Wouldn't it be a shame if lots of people wrote in and argued the case for keeping things more or less as they are or for a further move away from the outdated, illogical imperial system?
