That's why Labour should welcome Lib Dem gains in the south. Some sort of post-election arrangement with the Lib Dems (not necessarily a coalition) should be easier to achieve than one with the SNP.

There is an enormous amount of tactical voting between Conservative, Lib Dem and Labour voters in Scotland. Of the 10 Tory or Lib Dem-held seats in Scotland, Labour got no more than 9% of the vote in any of them and lost their deposit in 5. For comparison, in only one of the 533 constituencies in England (Tim Farron's Westmorland and Lonsdale) did Labour lose their deposit in 2019.

 

Labour won't be targeting the Tories there. There is barely any Tory vote to squeeze in the SNP seats that they may be targeting.

What is WRONG with English people and being so polite as to not call a spade a spade?! The man is a criminal, totally immoral, turning a blind eye to crimes being committed, taking bribes, degrading his office, degrading the queen, degrading his wife and children. "ooh, he's had some criticism" makes it sound like he's worn a dirty pair of shoes, not conspired to have legal immigrants deported to Africa for no reason, wilfully spread a deadly virus around number 10, blocked journalists from being able to attend press conferences, facilitated drug taking in Parliament, stolen public money and funnelled it to his mistresses and god knows what else!

 

 

I still think he's been a great PM though. You talk as if he's murdered someone. Most you list are minor transgressions. We all make mistakes every day. Leave the guy alone. Would love to see you or all his critics here do his job.

He had Covid yet still steered us through the pandemic as well as any other PM, including Corbyn or Starmer could have.

He got Brexit, the will of the UK people, done satisfactorily. Despite a few teething problems it's been fine so far. No mass food shortages that were predicted.

He brings a bit of fun in to the top job. Far too long occupied by boring men and women in grey suits.

 

His morals ie number of wives he's had and cheated on and his number of children, has nothing to do with his job. It's below the belt to bring his immorality up Joopster. There are worse men, and women than him. He seems happy with Carrie and they have two nice children.

 

I for one, along with millions of others, will be very sad when he goes. Yes I know many will be happy too. Am not stupid. Seems to be a marmite figure now.

Firstly and most important, shelter, roof over your head, then fuel in the form of food then your bills. No vodka, cider, lager, ciggies, internet, I-phones UNLESS you can afford them and have money spare after the first three. At age 16, students should be taught money management before they leave school.

 

We struggle as we've a massive £900 a month house loan to repay to her employer. Just put my readings in and next gas bills will be £386 and £286 respectively. Last year each were less than half that. We ECONOMISE though and think, do we really need this? I don't drink Mon to Thu now as can't afford it. May have 2 cans each day, Fri to Sun.

That's not true at all. There are many families and vunerable people who have not been able to make their money stretch with how fast everything is rising. I've seen it first hand with people in and around my community who have pretty much given up the "joys" of life in order to just survive.

 

Also you talk as if internet access is an extra when in fact it's more so a necessity nowadays for people to access support, benefits, their bank accounts etc. Especially as a lot of services have been/are being cut with bank branches etc closing, making it more difficult for those in more remote areas/small towns and villages to be able to have face to face contact/customer service.

 

It's great that you are able to economise with the money you have. But what you fail to see is the many people who don't even have enough money to cover their basics.

 

I dread to think what this winter will be like, especially if it's a cold one. It's not as easy as just wearing extra layers instead of turning the heating on when you have health problems or a disability that worsens in colder weather.

He doesn't need to. He's done very well for himself in life and carved out a good career in politics and has money. You don't have to economise if you can afford not to.

Nah Scotland is nationalist vs unionist now and most vote tactically to keep some seats out of the snp hands so yes in Aberdeenshire and other Tory seats there’s that battle while Labour battle the snp in city seats. Think some Tory seats will be lost in 2024 to the snp or Tory to Labour.

Whether you think Johnson is a great PM is a personal opinion but in my view he is the worst PM I’ve ever known during my lifetime.

He’s a compulsive liar and the first PM ever to receive a criminal fine for breaching lockdown rules. His handling of the covid pandemic was shocking, woofully inadequate and led to the UK having the highest death rate in Europe. With regards to Brexit, he may have got us out of the EU but Brexit is far from done. Exports to the EU have significantly dropped as a result of red tape and the UK is predicted to have the slowest growth in Europe over the next few years. His so called ‘oven ready deal’ has led to the UK government having to introduce new legislation to override the NI protocol which has been described as illegal and highly likely to lead to a trade war with the EU at a time when we are already experiencing a cost of living crisis. Under Johnson, he is also responsible for introducing the absurd Rwanda policy which will do little to prevent illegal immigrants from coming to the Uk but is likely to cost more as a result of legal challenges.

 

His lack of good morals in his personal life are sadly a broader reflection of who he is and what he stands for but he clearly has no integrity or he would have resigned by now over the party gate scandal.

 

Yes, there are worst people out there than Johnson but that’s no justification for him remaining as PM. The UK deserves much better than having a clown in office who hasn’t a clue and is completely out of touch with the general public.

What happens to the Unionist who really dislike the Tories, especially the current incarnation under Johnson (of which there must be a fair few) - I would be suprised if they ever voted for a Tory candidate in this instance.

Well this is it, which is why the SNP will be hoping Johnson stays PM as hes win win for their cause. As an Irish nationalist Brexit is the gift that keeps on giving for the campaign for a United Ireland it demonstrates to the moderate middle of the road voter than Westminster government is imposing things you against your wishes and pushes that cause closer.

And today we have the latest in a long line of examples of Johnson sending a minister out on the round of the broadcasting studios (aka a daily PPB) defending his latest lie only for Downing Street to change the story within hours. When are these ministers going to develop a backbone and refuse to subject themselves to this ritual humiliation?
