Yeh, the Carrie story 'disappearing' is incredibly ODD and there is some serious Streisand effect going on as a result: https://bylinetimes.com/2022/06/20/anatomy-...carrie-johnson/

Crucially, however, Johnson’s spokesman today admitted that Number 10 had contacted the Times about the story both before and after publication.

In some respects, the reality is actually far worse than the conspiracy theory. Rather than being scared-off by lawyers, or shadowy court orders, the Times seems to have merely folded to political pressure from Downing Street, without even putting up a fight.

Rumours that there are two super injunctions about - one for this story when he was Foreign Sec and one for another. Story is obviously true, just looks like they intervened before it got published.

If the story about the job for Carrie Symonds is true, I don't see how it can be blocked by an injunction. The press can defend reporting the story on the grounds that it is in the public interest. Anyway, other news outlets are now reporting the story so there i clearly no injunction. Downing Street have however, confirmed that they contacted The Times.

One party state media. Basically on the verge of a full-on Tory dictatoeship. GET THE bast*rdS OUT AND GET RID OF THE RAGS!!! NO MORE BIAS!
The story has become bigger than it would've been had they just allowed the Times to publish it. A bit of an own goal there.

Indeed, given the amount of blatant cronyism and dishonesty from Johnson and co every day, this is pretty small fry.

The by election bookies odds are stating that both Honiton and Tiverton and Wakefield are Tory losses.

loved the comedy show of Raab trying to justify no wage rises to the public sector because it would "make inflation worse" and hurt "those most in need" so everyone is just jolly-well going to have to suffer a 10% loss in wealth.

Except for pensioners, as that wont affect inflation much (love the instant self-dissecting of a fatuous argument Raab just made). They get 10%.

As the fab Ken Clarke opined: "Stop giving me extra money, I don't need it!"

Raab has basically said that „we’re giving our voters a pay rise. All You labour Voting scum get nothing“ in more words

BBC reporting now that Chris Pincher has resigned from chief whip after ‘embarrassing himself’ and ‘drinking too much’

supposedly the real reason is that he groped two men.

of course he’s not lost his position as an MP though.

I mean if it was just making a tit of himself then that happens 24/7 in the House of Commons. So he resigns because he'll get into trouble for alleged sexual assault. And all he cares is "embarrassing himself" - completley selfish but so typical of Tories.

Suspended now, another by-election coming up for them to lose? :cheeseblock:

It was a Labour seat under Blair but is now a safe Tory seat. The Lib Dems' best performance is only around 15% so it would be a test of whether Labour can overturn a massive majority.

Labour will have a majority in the Commons by the time the next election comes around the way things are going!

They've lost 4 by-elections so far. 1 seat to Labour and 3 to the Lib Dems. Whilst I can see Labour making good gains in the next election, the Lib Dems could be onto massive gains from the Conservatives. I do hope Labour/Lib Dems form an alliance in the next election.

Yes, Boris 'didn't know' about Chris Pincher...

I think you'll find:

Pincher, who stood down as a Government whip last night after admitting to assaulting two men, had been forced to resign from the whips office back in 2017 over similar allegations. He was later cleared by the party. However, his behaviour continued to be well known, with Politico reporting today that he was given a “minder” at events to keep him in line.

Johnson was warned about the behaviour, according to Politico, but chose to ignore it.

They said that in 2010 too with a much more charasmatic leader in charge and after the cut and thrust of a GE campaign it never comes to pass. If the Lib Dems take some of the southern and south west seats then great means Labour need less in the north. But the tories could gain in Scotland given the moves Nicola Sturgeon is pulling!

Honestly just exhausted by this country now.

I was reading a guardian article earlier and it described Boris's reign of terror as 'his premiership has come in for some criticism'.

What is WRONG with English people and being so polite as to not call a spade a spade?! The man is a criminal, totally immoral, turning a blind eye to crimes being committed, taking bribes, degrading his office, degrading the queen, degrading his wife and children. "ooh, he's had some criticism" makes it sound like he's worn a dirty pair of shoes, not conspired to have legal immigrants deported to Africa for no reason, wilfully spread a deadly virus around number 10, blocked journalists from being able to attend press conferences, facilitated drug taking in Parliament, stolen public money and funnelled it to his mistresses and god knows what else!

I could be wrong, but I am pretty sure some of Labour’s main targets for 2024 are in Scotland. Which likely means targeting those Conservative seats that are pro-UK. Seems pretty dangerous territory to me as I feel they may need the SNP, but probably means any form of coalition government with the SNP is off limits if that’s the case, as I’m sure for the SNP to do that they would want a guaranteed indy vote.
