Silento is another Meridian Dan surely..hyped but ultimately a flop.

I suppose on the one hand this at least has its US success to fall back on, nobody in the world actually cared about that 'German Whip' thing.

There was a while last year when I was hearing German Whip pretty much every day (you probably don't believe me, but I don't care, I'm not going to walk around video-taping my whole life just to prove that to you ). But grime music is VERY local to the UK, I'd say local even to just specific areas of the country. It's getting more traction overseas recently however, due to some US artists promoting it.

Added notable songs and albums for #41-100 in the update on the previous page, as well as singles top 5 sales! Fire away with any requests :D

PS: I'm not 100% clued up on the album re-entries so if I've marked it incorrectly, please let me know and I'll edit!

ouch at Joe Stone, I really want this to make the top 20 but looks unlikely now

He's still #5 on iTunes though - surely that should be enough? Streaming is FUBARing the chart majorly now :(

It seems majorly crazy that songs that have been as high as #2 on iTunes in the last few weeks have only just gone top 30 officially, first Disclosue and now this Joe Weller (if he holds up enough to even make it that high!). iTunes is not the official chart barometer it once was!

Weirdly large discrepancies between the tastes of music buyers and streamers too, more so than ever in the last few weeks.

Yes, should *just about* hang on - the only reason it dropped so much today was a load of weekend streaming data from Spotify was added.

I don't think the Now 91 effect has helped at all actually, I mean there are still multiple versions of many songs lingering around the iTunes chart so it's not quite as reflective as it was a couple of weeks ago!
How in the hell are Sigma/ Ella top 3 on iTunes but fell out of the top 5 in the newest update?

They were just #4 yesterday? :(

Because my love, that's just the way the cookie crumbles.

I'm fuming.

Glitterball is def. a flop.

I don't think Ella will ever get another number 1 in the UK again. -_-

I'm flabbergasted and defeated. :(

See a therapist?

They may be able to help you.

The huge discrepancies on iTunes and the official streaming included chart simply shows that acts need to just make songs available earlier and let them rise up the chart. Silento may do this and this week may not be its chart peak and Calvin although performing well as an OAOS release because of his big name should peak in the top 2 eventually.

The point being that the industry wants OAOS and has done since 2010 as it makes more sense to counter illegal music consumption so adding streaming has got rid of the power of big new entries after a 6 week wait for a song so they want labels to realise this and bring forward release dates - some labels are starting to follow suit now but no matter what without radio airplay it'll be hard for any song/artist.

I don't want to be rude, but please go away, you are making thread topics unbearable to read. Now its getting tiring and boring.

Can I just add not to respond to any of his comments.

I think Silento will be fine in the long run!

And Calvin can potentially get to #2 this week as a current top digital seller and a #4 in Spotify. :D To think he's had quite a few #2s with held-back releases.

Could I have the positions for Glitterball and Wings?
#6 and #29!

Thanks!

(I must say I expected the latter to be much lower, with it's drop on iTunes this week. And to answer someone's question, the reason why the former isn't top 5 is because streaming data from Spotify is now added, where the three songs overtaking it are top 10 but Glitterball isn't top 50. It's really not that hard to comprehend.)

Interesting that Silento's song is high on streaming but not performing overly well on sales, while Sigma/ Ella's streaming is virtually non existent but they have a strong hold at the top 5 on iTunes.

Wonder what causes this?
