Both releasing on the same week and both are seen as rather irrelevant.

Kygo 'Here For You' dropping like a stone now.

That's what happens when you throw out an OA/OS song with no follow up strategy (no promo events, radio interviews, video etc). I think it was described as an 'organic release'-- code for the record label is gonna do nothing!

In fact I think they basically threw it out to piggyback on Ella's success on Glitterball.

You do realise that all of Kygo's singles have been released with the exact same strategy, yes?

And?

In the end Here For You was recorded about a year ago, they choose to release it now, for probs the reason I stated.

Could have been a reasonable hit with a proper strategy.

Kygo should blow Sony out.

Here For You has just been added to the Capital playlist so it should have some longevity. It's normal for OA/OS releases to peak initially, then freefall and then climb back up once airplay begins - Selena's 'Good For You' being a perfect recent example.
Honestly I'm hoping for a slow burn Top 3 that hangs around for ages, I doubt it will pull a Thinking Out Loud but who knows.

I'd happily take that...makes a mockery of R1's decision to prematurely remove it from the playlist!

It's only just being picked up by radio, who cares if they've only just released it because of the success of 'Glitterball'? It worked for 'Firestone' and 'Stole the Show', 'Here for You' is off to a good start so I'm not really sure what your point is...

Also Rita Ora's - Body On Me. :)

I think this is not a wrong release strategy, I don't see a problem in Kygo's case anyway and once more and more songs get OA/OS release, I'm sure also the chart runs will change and song won't freefall in the second week.

'Here For You' has hardly dropped like a stone anyway? It's actually looking like pretty much the model for an OA/OS release so far...

Nero doing way better than expected, might challenge for a top 10 position on sales after all :o

Little Mix vs. Sam Smith could be an interesting battle! Little Mix having a 3 day sales advantage of course but I could see Sam potentially selling more in 4 days with the Bond hype.

86. CHVRCHES - Clearest Blue

Just heard this and I'm really hoping this is their next single and not just an instant grat. It's fantastic!

To be honest, the drop isn't nearly as bad as Rita Ora's Body On Me which managed to re-peak only last week. Just wait once it gets a video and a building up of AirPlay and then we can see whether it'll drop like a brick or not (I think it'll do the latter really).

Why is the Bond song getting middle of the week -release when Friday is the global release day now

To tie in with the movie release date. Mind you the track is pencilled in for the 25th according to the release schedule.

IIRC Skyfall was released midweek. I think it did not appear in the chart update too (back when updates were Wednesdays and chart Sundays)
