October 2, 201510 yr seems a bit undeserved for Sam Smith to have the first ever Bond Theme #1 when Adele would have easily done so if she had a full first week of sales (and I'm sure she sold more than 70k to get to #2). well done to him I guess but I hope the song doesn't stick around for too long.
October 2, 201510 yr Finally listening to The Writing's On The Wall. I was expecting a lot worse, to be honest. Still think Sam Smith is overrated though.
October 2, 201510 yr It's not a great song but I'd prefer it there to Bieber, whose new wacky hairdo ain't fooling me. I want either Ellie or Philip George to be there next week.
October 2, 201510 yr Looking at the top 100 I'm surprised to see that out of Stormzy's entries "Shut Up" is ahead of "WickedSkengMan4".
October 2, 201510 yr Kind of hoping that Bieber goes back to number 1 next week. It's possible but I guess R City may just about do it. Sales will be embarrassingly low, maybe only 50-55K (and that includes streams) !
October 2, 201510 yr Not a popular opinion but love Chris Cornell and Alicia Keys/Jack Whites bond tracks!! Pretty cool that the 'Bond Theme' charted in 1962!
October 3, 201510 yr Missed the chart show today as I decided to go to sleep instead having barely stayed awake for the rest of the day lol. Catching up with the new entries now. Sam Smith's song is probably his best since 'Money On My Mind' but that's not saying a lot, the production is suitably Bond-ish which is a good thing (though doesn't really sound much like Disclosure, disappointingly) and his vocals on the verses are alright. Not so much in the chorus though. The Rudimental/Ed Sheeran song is EXTREMELY disappointing, possibly my least favourite Rudimental single to date :/ I'm all for them switching up their sound but not if it's to this complete nothingness, not even Ed can save it and I usually like everything Ed puts out... especially disappointing after how much I loved 'Bloodstream'. Nick Brewer's song sounds like a Poundland version of Example feat. Jess Glynne or something. Massively dated and slightly cringeworthy. I like the sample though? Lol Little Mix's single is a big improvement on 'Black Magic', quite liking the retroness. Still a big step down from the 'Salute' era though. 'Hair' is far better than either of the actual singles so far. Sia's song does nothing for me at all. Not good, not bad, just there. Disappointing again (this is proving to be a theme). Anyhow, good to see Ellie Goulding and Pia Mia both reaching new peaks and Naughty Boy climbing into the top 10! Macklemore & Ryan Lewis nearly doing so as well, next week please?? Aw at Drake stalling for now as well :(
