Whip It is so much better than Bills, it is really catchy too!
I'm quite the opposite and find 'Whip It' to be quite "meh" after the brilliant 'Bills', but tbh I wasn't expecting a great follow-up.
YASSS Philip George needs to be #1 this week ~ smash it! :cheer:

Agreed. Lunchmoney just seems like a one hit wonder guy to me. I couldn't see an album from him doing anything. Whip It is ok but really nothing special. Bills at least had a bit of novelty value to it.

She's done well though! Really excited to see where she'll go with this. I'm definitely expecting a watered down version of 'Uptown Funk' though.

Tbh I'm not a fan. It was just someone earlier the thread was wanting her to make Top 100 as Ben did but not sure it will happen now, I think he got to #75ish? I'm not one for comparing the artists after the show really but maybe its a little indicator. Haven't even heard the songs properly yet of course.

I thought Whip It had already been and gone lol, I can't see it smashing anyway though, even if it was held back. Bills always sounded like a OHW to me

Well Ben did win the X Factor and I'm pretty sure collaborating with Kelly is generating hype too. I don't think it's a big indicator at all really. It all depends on airplay in the end if either of them can get a hit out of their respective singles.

TBF they both appeal to completely different markets, so they shouldn't be in direct competition with each other. Ben's sounds like it'll be on the radio for months and months though, so he'll definitely get the bigger hit (plus he WON so it's only right he did so, right? :heehee:)
OA/OS for both artists is a really interesting strategy, I can't call how either is likely to do. At a guess I'd hazard a No.4 peak with a few weeks in the top ten, perhaps becoming a radio staple, for Ben (my mind is expecting something like Olly and Demi's Up) while Fleur could go anywhere really, but for now I'd call top 20, I really don't see her doing as well as I'd like or believe she should do. I say this without hearing either song of course.

Lewis and his lunch money to buy another top 100 hit? :o

Not always easy to tell when an artist recieves a one hit wonder or not. Of course whether or not they go on to release albums and such would definitely rely on the matter. Like Sam and the Womp and Meghan Trainor.

Yes I agree but I think they can both sell to the young market for example for different reasons. Their music will of course be very different.

Unfortunately its always going to happen (the comparisons on how well they do etc) but as a fan of Ben as long as he does well I am ok!

I do have a feeling that Fleur's core fanbase is being a little over estimated by some of her fans but I guess we'll see how they both do.

Yep airplay is always key. If you can't hear it how can you like it.

I'm surprised everyone thinks Ben's single is going to do so well and it'll be a radio staple, just because he won. Look at what happened to Matt Cardle, who apart from me even remembers 'Run For Your Life'?

Except that single didn't feature a popular singer like Kelly Clarkson. With her being featured on the single you'd expect that the label are actually going to try with Ben, like they did with James Arthur before he killed his own career.
