Except that single didn't feature a popular singer like Kelly Clarkson. With her being featured on the single you'd expect that the label are actually going to try with Ben, like they did with James Arthur before he killed his own career.

Yeah it does seem like they're putting more effort in with him, I'm just surprised that so many people think it's a foregone conclusion that it's gonna stick around for ages. It'll be interesting to hear the song anyway.

Regarding the OA/OS vs. held-back releases debate, surely each label should just do what they feel is best for their songs? Not sure why the whole singles market should be forced into one release strategy or another.

If a label wants an eye-catching peak for a new artist then they should be hold back a song to gather some momentum. It would be misguided to just release it OA/OS because everybody else is. Not everybody can be One Direction or Justin Bieber, or have a marketing strategy like Stormzy!

I'm surprised everyone thinks Ben's single is going to do so well and it'll be a radio staple, just because he won. Look at what happened to Matt Cardle, who apart from me even remembers 'Run For Your Life'?

I love run for your life, poor Matt, he really deserved far greater success than what he achieved. I think Ben will do ok with the Kelly Clarkson duet, should go top 5 and be a reasonable size hit, after that its hard to call. A few winners have managed a top 10 hit after a winners single (Matt, Joe, Leon) but follow ups flopped so i hope he can avoid that. X Factor really need to get behind their winners as i think the winners getting dropped so quickly has really damaged the show.

Lewis and his lunch money to buy another top 100 hit? :o

Not always easy to tell when an artist recieves a one hit wonder or not. Of course whether or not they go on to release albums and such would definitely rely on the matter. Like Sam and the Womp and Meghan Trainor.

Where are those guys these days? they seemed to have disappeared after Bom Bom.

Yeah I only know of Ravo and Zeppelin. Both have music videos but neither has done anything. They've struggled to get views too :,)

Never mind the original, I want the Disclosure cover to be released or maybe they could remix it and put that out!!

The Vamps down to #23 and in dark red despite the video premiere. I can see them debuting in the top 10 on Friday and then dropping out of the top 40 entirely next week, a la Union J.
It all depends on when Radio 1 playlist it I think, it's a silly move to not have it on the c-list this week. It should stabilise once it gets radio play but it may well end up being too late and it will just spend a few weeks around the #60 mark or something :drama:

They do seem to be swaying towards playlisting a song a week or two after its release, and it does seem a bit silly of them to do that. But I think it's becoming more and more clear that first week chart positions don't matter much any more.

Ben has now pushed his single back a week.

"Finishing touches" apparently.

More like "live X Factor performance touches"
