They were really low (I think around 14%) until the 23rd where OMS was added to the Spotify Christmas Pop playlist and it zoomed up to #70 on Spotify.

Ah yeh that's right, that's the thing with Spotify, if it's not on particular playlists it does effect what songs people listen too and therefore chart higher.

It's particularly important with Christmas songs, as people have office/work parties and just stick on what ever Christmas playlist is advertised. There's no other way that Britney Spears' Christmas song would have gotten so high last year :kink:

Carly Slae Jepsen at 178 with her flawless cover! Regarding the Christmas songs being majorly boosted by featuring in playlists: this doesn't seem much different to me than a song being play listed on a radio station. The charts are always going to be influenced by someone - be it radio or streaming play listing. This just seems like the modern equivalent. I guess the main difference is that streaming play listing results in passive consumption of music, whereas hearing on the radio wouldn't necessarily encourage you to actually stream/buy the music in your own time.

Carly Rae's Christmas cover is on ALL the Christmas Spotify playlists, which explains why it's doing well on streaming yet isn't even 1,500 on iTunes.

Great to see Coldplays Christmas Lights right amongst the classics in the top 100, Def a modern classic! On Britney MOWTY if she had pushed it solely the December it was released instead of being a b side she may have charged etc and it would get more plays.
