December 10, 20159 yr If Ben & Leona and Little Mix & Fleur are performing together on Saturday, I think there should be one more performer that day (there were six last year). I'm assuming they're still working through the duet performances as they've not announced those yet? I've written and erased three replies now in regards to Leona, so I will just state the obvious instead: she's not a 'big star'; she had one big era in 2007-2008 on which her legacy as an artist rests, a mediocre one in the follow couple of years; but all in all she's done nothing of note in the past 7 years and the fact that she is still the most successful winner of the show states one thing: winning The X Factor doesn't mean a thing. They have Little Mix as an example of winners who have went on to have a much more fruitful career -- why do they need Leona? The contestants will look up to her as somebody with outstanding vocals who did win the show, and this is why her doing one of the duet performances would be warranted. In the end, Simon has shoved her on Ben Haenow's performance as a last resort, and I wonder if he's doing it to try and benefit Ben (after all, they got Kelly on the single; perhaps this is a continued trend of trying to market Ben alongside an acclaimed female singer). I think this is cheap and poor of Simon, and my issue therefore lies with him and not Leona. However, Leona's lack of success in recent years alongside her inability to sell anything only shows that she's got no reason to be at the final in 2015, winner or not. This post will annoy Leona's fans here (I assure you that is not my intention), but I'm sure you can all see merit in what I'm saying. I'm not a massive Leona fan as some are around here (I did buy a couple of her albums however and think she has a great voice) but I think she deserves to come back if a) she wants to and b) the show are happy to have her. Pop stars careers fizzle out some sooner than others but that doesn't erase what they achieved. And she is along with 1D the biggest thing to have come out of the show. Would you begrudge them a return to the show in five years for a nostalgic performance? I certainly wouldn't. As for the duets (and especially Ben and Leona) I just think you might be over thinking it a little. They have obviously decided the show needs a boost and are pairing current winners/contestants (Ben/Fleur with previous winners (Little Mix/Leona) as a fun thing for the final and to show the "talent" (matter of opinion :)) that comes from it. And of course Ben and Fleur will get another chance to promote their albums along the way. Maybe he wants to give Ben a second shot at performing as they messed up his first single campaign.
December 11, 20159 yr Just noticed that Ben's album has been reduced to £5.99 on iTunes - Might help him get a few extra sales after his performance as I can't see 'Slamming Doors' becoming a hit, Also Leona's album is £4.99 :kink:
December 11, 20159 yr What I don't get is... why does Che have a duet with Leona and not Louisa? Usually the contestants get to sing with "their idols" and the amount of times Louisa has spoken about how old she was when she saw Leona win etc... and Simon referencing Leona a lot in her feedback... it just makes no sense
December 11, 20159 yr Leona to pull what Nicole done to Sam in 2013 and hog the limelight please
December 11, 20159 yr Excited to see Leona back on the X Factor stage but I think its safe to say she will not be performing with Che as s=Grimmy has said 'even Adele will be starstruck by Che's duet Partener' & I highly doubt she will be starstruck over Leona as they have met before etc. Really looking forward to this years final, feeling confident about Louisa winning, imo best winner since Leona if she does win. ^_^

December 11, 20159 yr I wonder what Ben and Leona will be singing? I was hoping Leona would have the opportunity to promote something from the new album but I have a feeling that they will perform Run.

If so, then the only duet I can think of with Leona is "Trouble" (a single she released in 2012). I think she duetted with male singers with that. Edited December 11, 20159 yr by Hassaan

Maybe it's going to be "Run" (shouldn't be too far off 1 million sales now)? I hope they have a group Christmas performance of all the finalists and all perform "One More Sleep" though. :kink:

This post will annoy Leona's fans here (I assure you that is not my intention), but I'm sure you can all see merit in what I'm saying. I'm not particularly a Leona fan, but I disagree hugely with this post. It's clear to me with the line-up revealed that they are going for a "Best Of X Factor" vibe, with all the big stars from the past performing. If this is the case, Leona HAS to be there - she is the second biggest act the X Factor has ever had!!!! Yes, so she hasn't been commercially relevant in a while, yet that does NOT detract from what she did achieve since winning the show. The way I see it, it was Leona who put the X Factor on the map (not One Direction), as she was the first international success story from the show, and she broke the American market at a time when it wasn't an easy thing to do (I'm not saying it's easy now, but it's definitely gotten easier since 2008). She still has, by far, the biggest opening week sales for an X Factor debut album in the UK (and that's including One Direction), and Bleeding Love and her version of Run are still very known amongst the general public. Honestly, how can she not be at an event celebrating X Factor's biggest successes? The fact that she is no longer successful doesn't change that she once was very successful. She is still the biggest winner to come from the show (at her peak, she was far bigger than Little Mix) and the show simply cannot ignore that. And whilst her star has undoubtedly waned, I still read articles and comments on forums referring to her (amongst others) as being one of the big success stories of X Factor, so most people would still be aware of who she is. So whilst I see the merit in what you're saying in regards to her no longer being a big star, I don't see any merit whatsoever in suggesting that she shouldn't be performing at the final.
December 11, 20159 yr Reading some of the above people seem to think Ben is performing twice? Its been confirmed he's singing Slamming Doors and I just thought Leona would sing with him? So one performance for both? I'd love Ben to do two performances but not how I'm reading it anyway.
December 11, 20159 yr Yeah I think the only performances Ben, Leona, Fleur & Little mix are doing are the ones together - which is a shame because would of liked to see Leona do something from I Am and even more so see her perform with Louisa but one performance is better than no performance for me. :)

He's performing twice: Ben will be performing his new track Slamming Doors but, stay tuned to find out just what else he's got up his sleeves later! http://www.itv.com/xfactor/news/ben-haenow...-x-factor-final The thing up his sleeve being the duet with Leona. Thanks :) I hadn't seen that but I'm still not sure it means it will be twice as the surprise could be within the first performance. But hey I hope you're right :)
