Your favourite non-single is out in a very, very respectable top 3 position! A fantastic, absurd, catchy, quite frankly AWESOME should-have-been-a-single song. From the spoken interludes, the drunken confession, the gorgoeus chorus, the wild production - it's a very clear highlight of not only the album but her career (yes i went there, come for me). As hype for the album (sort of) developed, a performance of this at the SwineFest gave fans what they wanted; a truly sexualised unadultered Gaga spinning a web and weave of lust and sensual confessions. The song is incredibly joyous and playful and doesn't take itself too seriously but underneath that is a rousing chorus and a kinky message that we've probably all felt at one point or another. The little sexxx machine that could, i'm shocked but very very pleasantly suprised that you allowed it to make the top 3. Damn.

'Applause' was really underwhelming at first, but it was a big grower. I really like it, but for me it's literally only 6th or so on the album!

There is simply no way in hell that 'Applause' is anywhere near the top 2 of this album. No way.

Rob uses the "not a big chorus" for many Gaga (and Carly) songs he doesn't like and frankly I just don't get it :/ how does 'Sexxx Dreams' not have a big chorus for example? It all builds into that climax and when it comes her voice is stunning and the lyrics are so playful all after the foreplay of the verses. What even is a "big" chorus for you? Something you can chant along to, blast out loud, enjoy?? Because SD amd DWUW (and MANiCURE) have some of the biggest in that case. The 'Sexxx Dreams' one reminds me of 'Just Dance's chorus. I wish I didn't love SD as much as I did because I don't think Rob would have been as vocal about his hate for it ;o

This is a surprisingly big reaction for such a statement :unsure: For me, I don't like choruses that feel like they don't build massively from the verses, they're meant to be the big moment. The production on DWUW barely differs from verse to chorus so it doesn't have a big moment for me. It's got a catchy chorus but it doesn't smash in like Applause and make me really wanna sing along to it. With Sexx Dreams, it's because her voice is so soft that it doesn't make it feel very special to me. MANiCURE does have a big chorus, I haven't denied that, it's just a total mess of a song where she sounds awful, so that's irrelevant to the discussion. Your love for a song is also completely irrelevant and insulting to my taste to suggest I like something less because you do, in any way other than a joke.

 

Applause isn't my favourite on the album, but it's still a huge singalong pop moment for me. It's what I want and expect from Gaga and it delivers to these ears. To your ears, maybe different and that's fine...
