Adele is 100% going to be number 1 with how quick she closed the gap on Coldplay. This week for me is all about Kylie, id love her to peak, unlikely, but one can hope. Her only other studio album to miss the top 10 was Lets Get To It, all her other studio albums have managed a top 10 position. Either way its likely she will outsell Impossible Princess #10 and Kiss Me Once #2 whether Kylie Christmas goes top 10 or not. Only You #90, id be so happy with an offical top 100 but it wont happen this week.

Take That only #44, i hope they keep climbing.

Great 3rd week for Enya, she is doing much better than i thought and likewise for The Corrs on week, nice to both Irish acts achieving more success. Not a great 4th week for Ben Haenow, Olly Murs not doing nearly as well as expected either.

They've been ahead of her on downloads and I'm surprised she's still closing in on them

You know physicals make up most of the market at this time of year, right? Christmas gifts etc. You can't wrap up a download :P

Totally agree!

It's pretty decent for a Christmas album in the UK. The Michael Bublé comparison looks damning until you realise that comparing anyone to Michael makes their sales look horrendous.

It's not a huge hit but nobody is foolish enough to be operating under the assumption that Kylie is a huge star in 2015. Adding another Gold certification to her record is impressive at this stage of her career.

I wasn't comparing Buble with Kylie, just saying it is a bit depressing people are celebrating her maybe doing 100k in total like it was something special (i.e selling like Buble).

That is comparing them though :P "Something special" is different for each artist really. In the grand scheme of things, 100k is probably quite bad for a Kylie album, but it will be more than Kiss Me Once and considering she's nowhere near her peak of relevance, it's pretty great for an album that can only really sell for 6 weeks this year. Bublé's much more relevant to the public (somehow) and something special for him is not the same as it would be for Kylie in 2015.

Is 100k really any good though. Kiss me once did what 80k and that was die hard fans buying it only, so what she has managed to gain 20k with an album that was aimed at the general public, that had songs on it they know and love already, that had duets that were meant to get people talking?

Surprised by the flop of the new One Direction's album. Already out of the top 10.

Surprising because Drag Me Down and Perfect are good hits there.

Most albums are made to sell though, otherwise they'd be given away for free.

Michael Buble is a bigger name than Kylie and was coming off a massive era in terms of sales and the added exposure the album got helped it in years to follow.

Kylie had a poor selling album last year and is not as big as she was, someone like her who has been in the business for 30 odd years selling 100K of an album is something to be celebrated as not many others could manage it.

Buble is a bigger artist than Kylie???? Really? I seriously doubt that... She has sold over 80 million records since 1987 which is a huge achievement making her one of the most successful artists ever... Which can't be said of Buble..

To be fair Kylie has only sold 44k so far! I want 100k but lets not get ahead of ourselves, she is dropping on download sales now etc and surprisingly her Physicals don't look too popular, except of course her Tesco..

I am hoping she stays top 20 this week and hopefully next week too.

Clearly we're talking about the ability to sell albums in 2015.

Buble album cheap everywhere hence his sales this year......

Well Bublé has sold just as many albums as Kylie Minogue, if not more (in the UK at least).

Quite frankly an album going gold in the current market is a success. Michael has been more relevant than her the last 5 or so years, so it's to be expected that he's managed to outsell her and his Christmas album has become a classic so to speak.

Well having sold 2.2 million copies of it already he has to have some strategy to continue to get sales. :D

Did all this really come from a tongue in cheek comment from Regina providing fake midweeks with Kylie at no.1?

Slay, Regina, slay.

Slay, Regina, slay.

Regina is ALWAYS taken seriously in this thread!

Buble is not more relevant in UK than Kylie........ he comes out at Xmas and gets an Xfactor/Strictly role and that's it and sells off one album.

Kylie is a legend of UK pop music. singles, albums, dvds, concerts, tabloid A-lister regardless of a few dwindling sales because a 47 year old woman doesn't get played on radio. Her longevity in the business shows her iconic status in the UK....... rest of the world not so much, but UK still an A-lister.

Let's keep the argument focused. It's about who can sell the most albums in recent years. Even looking at this decade there is no competition sadly. We are not taking about subjective things such as relevance etc undoubtedly Kylie is a treasured pop icon who had demonstrated she has longevity but to suggest that she is currently in the same sales league as Buble is not based on avaliable fact.

Are people seriously trying to argue Kylie is more relevant than Bublé right now :')

Kylie's album is doing very well for what it is. Christmas albums very rarely do much better than hers has. Bublé's 'Christmas' is an exception, not the rule.
