It seems like it was not really worth betting that much money then if all you get is £75 more, the bookmakers will hope that Justin Bieber gets the #1.

Out of an interest what does 1/5 mean in terms of odds? is it when you bet £1 you get a £5 reward? I've never been much of a gambler so I don't understand it too well.

1/5 is when you put £5 on you get £1 back

5/1 is when you put £1 on you get £5 back

12. Adele - Hello

13. Adele - Hello

21. Shawn Mendes - Stiches

29. MNEK & Zara Larsson - Never Forget You

32. Years & Years - Eyes Shut

54. Elle King - Ex's & Oh's

68. Little Mix Feat Jason Derulo - Secret Love Song

72. Sia - Cheap Thrills

126. Charlie Puth - One Call Away

Can you imagine how rich we'd all be if betting was open every week for the #1 on the charts in the following week?

I always thought it was?

Mind you, I can remember when bookies used to refuse to take bets about charity records. I'm not sure when that taboo was broken.

'79 Diljit Dosanjh - 5 Taara (with Jatinder Shah)'

anyone know what this is doing in the itunes top 100

5/1 is when you put £1 on you get £5 back

OK thanks for this.

Wow! Anyone who bets on odds of 1/5 is quite frankly an idiot then.

Not really - you get back your stake. So if you bet 500 at 1/5 you would get 100 plus your 500 stake, so 600 quid. It's a risk, particularly with football bets where real Madrid for instance might often by 1/5 to win a match, but they do occ slip up. As Bieber could do this week, though it's highly unlikely.

 16. Louisa Johnson - Forever Young but don't underestimate that as she's probably selling bucketloads of physicals

I doubt she's selling anywhere near the amount of previous winners - The CD single is becoming more and more irrelevant especially at a £4 price tag, Also is her CD being sold everywhere or just HMV and Amazon (Where it's not doing particularly well) - I know in the past Supermarkets have sold the winners single too?

I'm bet at 1/4 and I'm going to win £75. I would of bet more if I could

The NHS Choir seem to have jumped back up, I'm hoping for a miracle or at the very least a performance on BBC Breakfast this week to try and get it ahead again...
Måns Zelmerlöw's 'Heroes' for #1 after being used on Sports Personality of the Year! :cheer:

SCHADENFREUDE* alert.

*Aimed at Cowell naturally, none intended for Louisa. Though annoying this couldn't happen last year because Mark Ronson did deserve Christmas number 1 (and 8 weeks at #1). : (

- That's the Big Top 40 by the way - the chart that has been trolling me at work all week asking if Louisa could knock Justin Bieber off the top of their made-up chart.

Sainsburys and Tesco I know are selling it. Went to my local HMV yesterday and they never had it. Either they haven't stocked it or it's sold out

I have to say Forever Young is just a bad track, not really Bob Dylan's finest, bit of a horrid choice for a X Factor winners track would have been better off with the Goo Goo Dolls version of Iris, if she was the hot favourite to win the show, they should have gave her something mind blowing.

It's a shame they didn't rush release a £2 CDS - Could have made up the streaming deficit!

Quick question-- how does the daft Big Top 40 chart get Louisa at #11-- when its been #16 all day...
I've just placed a £300 bet on Justin being Xmas number 1 too with William Hill and I'll get £409 back if he is number 1. Keep your fingers crossed for me guys!

Only the top 10 is the iTunes chart at the time. The rest is a totally different formula.

Its always been messed up - they seem to use some kind of mixture of whatever is popular on capital at the moment, big mainstream pop hits and random new entries for songs 40-11, and the live top 10 for the top 10??!

(for example Don't Be So Hard On Yourself charting 8 places above Take Me Home when Take Me Home is 38 places higher on iTunes?  )
