I am pretty sure voting extensions are allowed, you just still have to give a 15% deduction for late voters. It does say this in the rules.

 

Indeed! You can extend the deadline if you wish as far as I'm concerned, but don't feel you have to because you didn't send reminders and personally I wouldn't as I've always been of the view that people should be able to read a deadline and not need to be chased up for votes. Reminders aren't compulsory, although it is good practice, and I'm pretty sure that in a contest very recently reminders weren't sent out and that is fair enough.

 

Do make the decision ASAP as it will effect whether one contest bans are involved or just deductions and as Bre says, deductions will be involved whether the deadline is extended or not.

Voted! I must say, while this I didn't feel was quite as strong (in terms of absolute highlights) as last month, I found myself going a little overboard with the commisserations - there's so many tracks bundling up around what I would think of as the lower-point marks.

Reasonable extensions are perfectly allowable with no need to consult the moderators. If you announce before deadline has passed then late voters take a 15% hit and nothing else. After it passes and the late voters pick up a ban to go with their deduction.

Imo if you sign up for the contest then you should be prepared to vote in every stage of that month's competition, regardless of whether you qualify or DNQ or intend to participate or not next time.

 

If there's a genuine reason (I understand that real life sometimes gets in the way) for not voting then fair enough but eight seems pretty high.
